I got my Emmy on Mother's Day 2002. She was the first dog I had had in many years. We lived in apartments and could not have a dog, so once we got a house of our own, my husband got me Emmy. We found her at the local shelter. She had just come in the morning of our visit. Mine was the first name on the card for her. She had a collar on when she came in, so I had to wait an extra 5 days (besides the original 7) to get her, giving the owners time to claim her. The 12 days I waited for her were agonizing. What if the owners came to claim her? She was 3 months old and very thin. You could see her ribs. She'd been on the street awhile. |
