You said you do rescue work with DARS. I don't mean to sound stupid, but what is DARS? I used to foster for our local Humane Society, but they got overcrowded and stopped taking the cats/kittens back. Now I just foster kittens/puppies for friends and friends of friends. A friend had a momma cat that had five kittens, then got killed when the kittens were about 1 week old. They didn't even all have their eyes open yet. I took those five and the next day another friend said her daughter had a momma and two babies come to her house but she couldn't keep them. I was thrilled to take in that momma! So, right now I have an extra eight cats (in addition to my 11) that I'll need to find homes for. You're right - the love and joy they bring into my life is definitely worth all the work.
