I have a 2 year old Great Pyrenees that was just diagnosed this past Tuesday with Addisons disease. He was very sick and spent the weekend in the emergency vet getting IV fluids to rehydrate him and is now going to be put on a treatment plan called DOCP which I know is a steroid treatment and kind of pricey as they go by weight. He seems so depressed and keeps wanting to hide. i have good Vets and they say it is like treating a human who has been diagnosed with Thyroid or Diabetes that you have to work on the medicine to get the levels right for him so it will take a while for him to pick up and act himself again. I am struggling here trying to find things he will eat and to get him to drink water. We are going for his first shot treatment today. If anyone has experience with this please help me to understand all of this and what can make him feel better or just your own experience with Addisons.

Sorry to hear about your dog...Addisons is very treatable...DOCP is the newest med on the market, and from what I have read, once the right dosage is determined, the shot is only needed every 3 weeks...sounds like your Vet is on the right track, just takes a while to get it under control....
