| Hi Lovesdogs and thank you for asking...
we have tried and will keep on trying- but no, we haven't caught our dog, Opie. He isn't really ours, but we hope that one day...next we''re trying an immediate acting tranquilizer, which we said weeks ago, would be our last resort. What's left? Even AControl said that they cannot get him. He's a wild spirit- obviously, and I pray he doesn't get hit- on the other hand, if he is caught and goes to a shelter (we cannot contain him and his jumping ability), is that the place for him?? We just keep trying | | | |

| God bless you and your neighbor for trying so hard to save this poor, innocent dog! I wish there were more people out there like you! I will continue to pray you are able to get a hold of him! Please keep us all posted! | | | |

| Thanks for caring! We are feeding him, and will not stop caring for him- even if it's on his terms. Some things are just meant to turn out the way they do, and "Ollie" is determined to stay on the run, yet knows where and when to get food~ bless his heart. We love him. I hope he knows that.

| You might have better luck catching the hound if you don't act like you are going after him. Dogs react to your energy. Probably the best course of action would be to go about your business when the dog is around acting as if you are not even paying attention to him while gradually getting closer but take it very slow and easy, because if the dog senses that you are coming after him it is his natural instinct to bolt. Hopefully this will help you out. | | | |

| Thanks for asking- no we haven't caught the dog. We cannot catch the dog. Animal Control could not catch the dog, and tried three different afternoons. We are still feeding the dog and caring for him on his terms...which is to bolt if a human comes within five feet of him. Got any solutions?? | | | |

| Posted By kwndog on 04/26/2008 1:21 PM next we''re trying an immediate acting tranquilizer, which we said weeks ago, would be our last resort. I am not sure what your saying, when you say,"Immediate acting tranquilizer"? The only kind I know of that is "immediate" is by means of a dart gun! And you need to be a licenced professional not only to pocess the drugs, but also to carry the gun... Slipping a tranquilzer in pill form in food, is NOT immediate, it takes 30-40 minutes to take full effect.... You seem to have run out of options in capturing the dog, so this immediate acting trznguilizer option seems to be your last resort. I am curious as to how this last resort works out for you...it may even be very informative for other memebrs if they are ever in the same situation.

| "Immediate acting tranquilizer"? for us, that's alcohol Newfs! ..ok, maybe not immediate as it takes a few... what's going to happen to the dog post tranquilzer? Is someone going to take care of him or ship him off to the shelter??? Where depending on where you live can be a permanent tranquilzer?? | | | |

Thanks! Yours is the most logical suggestion...and we have tried it. Recently, we contacted this woman who has a huge success rate catching dogs on the run- and she told us to do what you said. BUT she also said to keep on with this method- because it could take weeks to work!! I'll let you know
