Hello everyone, I live in the Kendall area in Miami, Fl. I recently found a female shepherd mix approximately 6-8 month old  in my neighborhood as I was walking. I take walks frequently and have become familiar with my surrounding neighbors and their pets. This dog did not seem familiar to me and for some reason I felt that she may have been abandoned.  She was sitting off to the side of the road. I went home and came back with a leash. I walked for hours ringing peoples door bells in hopes to find her owner or someone who knew who her owner was. No-one seemed to recognize her as being from the neighborhood. Several neighbors did say that they saw her earlier in the day just sitting in the spot that I found her. I've had her checked for a microchip and placed flyers in vets office, pet stores and thru out the neighborhood. No-one has claimed her! I am unable to keep her much longer. I have 4 dogs and 3 cats. I do not want to take her to the local shelter because they are overcrowded and can only keep the animals for 5 days before euthanizing them.  But I am afraid that I will have to if I don't find someone that may want her.  She she is really sweet, friendly, does not dig, bark, or chew things in the yard. She was definitely someones dog that may have been kept inside because she is new to the rain and sleeps curled up by the back door wanting in. If anyone out that can provide  a good loving home for Molly, or if you may have a friend, family member, coworker anybody that can provide a good permanate home please contact me at ydavilachiu@aol.com. Thank you.

Hi pink,

Go on petfinder.com and find a rescue in your area, maybe they could take her in instead of the shelter.  If she was abandoned that is so sad people make me so mad. Well I hope this helps. And god bless you for taking her and keeping her safe till a solution comes.

I agree, look for a local rescue group that maybe able to bring the dog it. Petfinder is a good place to start, or even your local animal shelter may know of a group.

Good Luck

pinkfrenchy I just recently adopted a viszla/lab mix with a badly broken right back leg.{she'll always have a metal plate to hold it together). a kill shelter, called CHESED RESCUE to see if they would take, my maggi, they took her ,got her leg repaired, and I adopted her the first day she was posted on PETFINDERS website PETFINDERS.COM. they do not have a shelter building, most are fostered before adoption. they are based out of BOCA RATON. they are very nice and may be able to find a foster parent until the dog is adopted. go to petfinders website and you'll find them. then just call them and they may be able to take her. (actually, i'd take her myself, but i live in an apartment building-and you know about that). GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND MOLLY!

UPDATE ON MOLLY...... I want to thank all of you who have posted a message for me. I also want to give you an update on Molly. I've had Molly now for 2 1/2 months. Soon after I found Molly I took her back to the vet and had her vaccinated, checked for heartworm, spayed, and microchipped. All in hopes to increase her chances of being adopted soon. The vet confirmed that Molly was about 6 months old at that time because her canines were coming in. I've since contacted several rescue groups but only four replied.  They were nice enough to place Molly up for adoption on their website. I have also placed ads in the newspaper and in vets offices. One of the rescue group shows their dogs on Sundays at Petsmart and has allowed me to join them in hopes to find a good home for Molly. They do require potential adoptors to fill out an adoption application, a contract, and make a $200 donation towards their organization. I have not missed a Sunday in the last 10 weeks and so far only two people  have shown interest in her. I don't seem to understand why because she is a beautiful German Shepherd/Lab mix. The only thing I can think of is that she does not get over excited and starts jumping on people as some other dogs do. Sometimes I wonder if she does not want to go. I want to find a good, loving, and permanent home for her so I don't push her on to people at the adoption events that seem unsure.  With time my family and I have grown attached to her, and she to us, we play frisbee with her everyday (which she loves) and take her for walks. We hope that when her permanent home arrives they will be understanding of our bond with her and will periodically give us updates on how she is doing. It will be very hard to give her up! I will keep you all informed. Thank you.
