I have had my Norma for almost two years. My neighbor next door asked us to cat sit her cat(Turns out her cat"big Mama" is Normas mom) Well the two cant seem to get along. I have had Big Mama for a month now and i have tried to get the two to be friends. Norma has taken up the habit now of peeing on stuff that is on the floor or our bed.

Can someone please help me. How do I get the two to get along( turns out my neighbor isnt coming back and so we have adopted big mama) and how do I keep norma from peeing on things. Each have a section of the house for their catboxes. Food and sleeping spots, but there are places where they have to cross each other to get to where they need to go at times.Help!

I got Belle in October 07.  Ridik & Storm hated her!  They hissed, spit, chased, and went out of their way to let her know she wasn't wanted.  I made sure they had their own toys, etc.  Gave each one alone time - nothing was working.  Finally, I just decided to let them work it out themselves.  Now, they are starting to tolerate her.  She can jump on the bed when they are on it and they will allow her to curl up and lie down.  I've moved their food bowls to the same spot - they will let her eat when they eat.  I'm hoping that as time goes by they will eventually become friends.  Meanwhile, Rio (my dog) and Belle have become best friends - they play together, groom each other, and will sleep next to each other ----- so CUTE.  So while I can't offer any magic suggestions, hopefully as time goes by yours will get along better.

Your ladies will argue. I had the same thing here.

I went out of my way and got them a male kitten. that bonded them and the kitten takes up all their time now.

Are those ladies spayed? they should be.

get em a kitten and they will have a common interest.

All the best

Dave.

When I introduced the 4th cat into my house she wanted to upstage the entire hierarchy and dethrone Cow (my eldest). Hiss, hiss, bite, bite ensued. It wasn't until I divided "happy time" between all of them equally. Positively rewarded no hissing behavior with treats and punished bad behavior with a time-out (placed the instigating kitty in bedroom to chill for 15min with door closed) and also used Feliway as a calming diffusor that things began to set themselves into a routine. They have their spats once in awhile but they have definitely mellowed out. good luck!!!

I've had a similiar problem and appreciate all the suggestions and am going to try several of them in hopes that they will help. I have 5 cats at this point; the oldest one I adopted and the others adopted me by starting to come in thru my doggie door. Two of them are definitely trying to chase her away by going after her and trying to prevent her from coming into the house for her food. I recently discovered that one of them (a very large male) loves to be brushed, so I've started giving him extra time in the evening and he's mellowed a bit since I started that. The other one seems to be somewhat antisocial by nature and the only way I've been able to handle her is by putting her in the bathroom when Sophie wants into the house. I'm going to try the calmer and see if that helps her; I've seen her take a swipe at 110 lb. Weimaranier if he came too close to her. Luckily the dog was a lot more tolerant than she is.
