I have a beloved cat Sunshine, whom we bottle fed from the time she was 4 ounces- yep, that's right- 4 ounces. I guess you can say we saved her little life. Anyhow, she is extreeeeemely  close to me- follows me everywhere and basically acts like my child. This is my dilemmna. About a year ago, my step daughter moved in with us, and she told me that after I leave for work in the morning, Sunshine cries at the door. I was devastated! She still does this every morning. Sometimes, if I am laying in bed and my husband leaves, she may forget that I am still at home and she will start crying, until I call her name, and she gets so happy. I'm at the point that I dread leaving her home alone. I even will forego going out if it means Sunshine being left. Has anyone else experienced this behavior? Other than that, she is the apple of my, and the whole family's, eye.

My cat cries when I leave the house as well. I have been told by other roomates and now I live with my sister who tells me that my one cat will sit by the door when I leave and cry. I have two cats and the boy is the one who cries....he is a momma's boy:) But he soon after stops and all is fine. Maybe you should get a friend for your cat? :)

I was thinking the same thing. I have read that an adult female takes quicker to a male kitten- I guess she would think he is her baby : ) But i am afraid she will resent me (us) for getting another cat, since she realy is the queen of the house!

Maybe foster a kitten or two with a rescue group.  They usually need foster homes and you won't have to commit if it doesn't work out.

One of my cats cries when I leave the house or if I am on the other side of the house. I also had her when she was a couple weeks old and bottle fed her. I notice when she cries she also chews the tip of her tail. I have other pets and she still does it.

I have 2 cats and one of them whom I am very close to waits behind the door for me until I come home. I am going on vacation soon and I worry that he will wonder why I'm not back at a reasonable time like I normaly am. My daughter told me that last year while I was away on vacation he seemed depressed. This is making me feel bad about leaving him. He knows that I love the heck out of him. I usually go out of my way no matter what I'm doing to see why he is off crying in another room. He does that because he knows he'll get my attention.

The kitten is a good idea. And if you do this, make sure you lavish sunshine with as much, if not more than usual , extra love and attention so she doesnt have displacement issues. A female will aotomatically begin to mother the kitten and the kitten will distract her from your absence.

Spay her if she isnt already and neuter the baby by 5 months of age too.

A fixed cat will be a happy, healthy cat.

I did my lil girl of the same circumstances and she still loves me. my night time teddybear is always where I am.

Best of luck.

Dave.
