Can anybody make a suggestion as to why my pug cowers when I call her?  I don't know why she acts like that I have never  done anything to her except love her.  When we are inside the house sometimes I'll call her and she runs to my room mate and she's the one that'll yell at her and make threats.  Know please do not get upset because of my roommate she would never hurt the dogs!  I trust her to take care of my babies when I'm not there and the dogs love being around her.   She has always acted like that from the day I brought her home.  She sleeps with me, almost always right up against me.  We'll play together.  She loves playing with my other dog although she likes to start a fight.  The fights are very short maybe 30 seconds and they have never hurt each other.  They act like squabbling sisters.

Suz - If you've owned the dog since she was a pup, maybe it's just submissive behavior (?)

hmm - maybe the other owner called her & then punished her (don't think you should EVER do that!)

Maybe in time she'll realize that when you call - it's a good thing - shower her with lots of praise & hugs.
