a power breed is basically any working dog or carrying or hauling dogs e.g. german sheperds, huskies, dobermans, and the rest of your big powerful breeds.

Hello working dog lovers, LOL! I have a Malamute mix and a Rottie who both love to "work.". My malamute is a retired packing & sledding dog. My rottie does packing, herding, obedience, service work...& I'm hoping to start him in carting soon. Anyone else work with their dogs?

Wolfie - you left out Malamutes in your list <img src=" src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/AnimalAttraction/emoticons/smile.gif" />  I like Shepherds and Malamutes.  They're what I think of when I think 'dog'.  Hybrids too, but legally, they can be an issue.

Holy cow Melissa.  You and your dogs are have quite the energy and ambition!  I've got two Malamutes and a Husky/Lab and a foster Malamute.  I just tried weight pulling and I'm realizing that takes a major time and effort commitment.  Mine were not "born to pull" for some reason <img src=" Like owner, like dog - I think we're all couch potatoes.

I might try training for sledding.  At least that's something I can participate in.  I'm not sure how sledding will work out though since my two males don't get along with each other.

Hello all, I have three huskies mixes who I absolutely love....well maybe not so much during the big sheds ! My two males are into sledding, skijoring & scootering & have great personalities :) Unfortunately my female who maybe malamute/husky/wolf has major attitude when it comes to other northern breed females, so much so I can only take her out alone. She will listen to me but I have to be on my toes with her, once she gets too far into the nasty zone it's realy difficult to bring her back. We have been working on this for over a year now but I don't know if she will ever be able to sled at our group outings :( Anyone else have this kind of issue?
