My Shih Tzu had something sticking out of the back of his neck. I used tweezers then realized it was a tick. Some one told me to use nailpolish because it suffocates the tick, but that's when it's still alive. Any suggestions before tomorrow morning when my vet office opens? My dog isn't in pain.

I have had LOTS of experience with ticks with my pup. My vet has told me to put some vasoline on the spot where the tick is and that will eventually suffocate any remains - it has worked for us. I would tend to think that nail polish might be toxic, but can't be sure about that. Good luck!!!

Hi, you can buy a tiny plastic thing thats looks like a fork from vet , you slide it under the tick and pull quick and it gets the whole lot out

I'm so lucky, my dogs have never had a tick (knocking on wood) But that video was pretty cool and I had planned on checking that way out should I ever have to. There is a vacant lot next to where I'm living right now, it's well over grown, I have to think it would be a good place to pick up a tick, the girls are trompcing through there all the time. *shiver* I hate bugs Glad it all worked out for ya Peanut
