| Domi - my vet recommended Benadryl also for motion sickness - worked for Molly (guess she doesn't like my driving ) . Gave her the tablets. But verify with the vet the dosage. Drove her all the way from Illinois to Colorado on 1 dose! | | | |

| | Not sure about motion sickness, but for separation anxiety you can try Bach's Rescue Remedy. It's homeopathic and completely safe. It's for humans but can be used on pets. I use it for my cats (put it in their drinking water) when they get cabin fever since they are indoor cats.
I had never heard of Benadryl for pets...interesting!

| | At GNC type places. A few drops should be enough.

| | I like the rescue remedy, but it doesn't work on all dogs... and if you're going to give Benedryl, rule of thumb is 1 pill for every 15 pounds of dog | | | |

OMG UBS----> NOOOOOOO!!!!! Tango (weighs 175 pounds) sometimes has to have Benedryl, he takes the adult dosage, 1-2 pills every 6 hours_________if Tango had to take the dosage by his body weight divided by 15 pounds, he would have to take 12 pills at once!!!! My Vet advised me to give 1-2 pills every six hours, and that amount works fine....

| | Another good use for benadryl is to help "control" allergy breakouts - I've had Jake on that for several years recommended by the my vet and it really has helped his spring/summer break outs. | | | |

| | Watch those dosages! If a person took a teaspoon of benadryl for every 15 pounds they'd be dead. | | | |

| It wasn't UBSMom that posted to give a teaspoon of Benadryl, it was Campdog....... and I am curious as why would someone give "liquid" Benadryl when a pill is so much easier | | | |

| oops...I do appologize UBS..Please forgive me..I take all what I said back.hehe seriously sorry.
I alway keep benedryl in capsul form for my dogs..Silly pups aways getting stung or sticking their nose where it dont belong and get bit by something. My dogs are from 50-80 something lbs... so I will start with 2 first then 1 after that twice a day till swelling goes down.
BTW,Newfs thanks for the heads up! I wouldnt want UBS hitting me around like should would like to do to those NFL quarterbacks!! Yikes

| | It's acaully 1 TEASPOON per 30 pds not to exceed 2 TEASPOONS per day She also said the most they recomend is 2 teaspoons at a time even for the heavier dogs unless otherwise directed by a Vet . either way he's on 1/2 a teaspoon at night I give him the liquid cuz he's a GREAT pill popper outer . lol no matter what u hide it in he will pop it out and eat the food or if u mash it up in food he won't eat the food ...... hmmm i think my stubborn one has been teaching him some things while i'm busy workin lol lol :)

| | I agree with using Bach's and there are some other products. One I use both a plug in and spray is Comfort Zone (D.A.P. for dogs). Also, lavender oil mixed with water and spray in the air. When my dogs were puppies I began giving them a treat before I would leave, now they want me to leave as they get a treat.
To research and buy DAP, go on line to Omaha Vaccine Company. I buy a lot of products from them and found Comfort Zone is less expensive then anyway else.
Good Luck!! | | | |
