| I'm in need to help to try to find a home for my dog. I want her to go to a good home.. I live in mass and can no longer keep her..( it would kill me to take her to the pound) I posted a few messages at petsmart and petco. or even foster her until I can back on my feet again.( going through a real bad time right now)
she's spayed, 6yr old, lab mix, 40 pounds, up to date on her shots, housebroken..she's a geat dog ( I wish more than anything I could keep her and It's killing me just to type this)
if anyone can help or has any suggestions PLEASE PLEASE let me know
thank you in advance Robin

| | Robin the Lab rescue in MD is very active. I am sure you have checked with them but if not my friend is active in it. Let me know.

| | Robin,
I'm sorry to hear you're going through tough times. But you are being very responsible to be trying to place your dog even though it must hurt terribly.
I don't know how things work in Mass, but the shelters I work with here in NJ would keep your dog (as long as she's healthy and not aggressive) as long as necessary for adoption. It often amazes me, but even older dogs are adopted; it takes time, but they are adopted. Of course, there are also no-kill shelters that provide a bit more security. Life in a shelter isn't that bad: square meals, shelter, walks, some form of bed, lots of dog neighbors.
You could also try the "free" ad in a local newspaper, but this is a bit touch and go to be sure you get someone trustworthy. Also place signs at Vet hospitals (and talk with the staff there). Is your dog calm enough to be a resident dog at a nursing home? (I don't know if that's legal in MASS.)
Good luck. I hope things straighten out for you.

| | You can post your dog on the Craig's list in your area then you can screen potential adopters on Craig's list your not allowed to sell animals you can adopt or put up for adoption
where you live then craigslist

| | Craigslist is the #1 site for people to pick up "FREE" dogs to use them as bait dogs...DO NOT put your dog for free on craigs list, you CAN ask for an adoption fee....
Why is it that you cannot keep your dog? Are you going to be homeless? Do you need food donations? What is the problem? Many people come on hard times & still can keep there pets. If you tell us what you need maybe some people on here will help....I run a rescue in Az & I hate to see animals given away...so please try to keep your dog...

I don't think those are approciate questions to ask in a public forum. If someone is in such a situation they need to find a home quickly, they certainly don't need another member asking such personal questions if you need to ask those questions, EMAIL the person privately

| | Please be AWARE of Craig's List. There was a young woman killed in Mo. by a man who advertised for a baby sitter and when she showed up at the abandoned house away from every thing that he told her to go to- he killed her. He didn't even have kids. That's a dangerous and risky venture. Also I agree about the FREE home because that brings all kind of "characters" out of the woodwork. Even ones trying to get dogs for research labs. Do you have the free advertising papers like Penny Saver that you can place an ad for free in. | | | |
