| Molly was "spayed" yesterday. Because she is a big Newfie, and has already had 2 heats, it was quite an operation. Took a little over an hour. Last night she was in a lot of pain when the anesthesia and pain med wore off... this morning she did start drinking water and eating a tiny bit of food. I did manage to sneak a pain med into her food. Now I have to keep her out of water for the next 2 weeks she is a magnet to water.... spays here are charged by the "weight" of the dog, you don't even want to know what it cost well it's a nice clean incision with no complications, and I am glad it's over, so thats all that counts | | | |

Good luck on the 'no water' policy Newfs. I can just picture Molly dragging you to the water to catch up with Tango!

(laughing to myself) Kendall, my Vet sent me home with a "Lampshade Collar" it is the largest size they make... only problem is, it is soooo big, she would not be able to fit thru a doorway with it on If she keeps trying to chew at her stitches, I may put a little bitter apple around the incision......

| Today I checked Mollys incision, it's a little red, but the stitches are still in tact...but... she is using her nails to "scratch" her stomach they shaved half her under-side for the surgery. So today I cut her nails and filed them rounded, will see if thats helps... I am sure as her fur grows back, it will be "itchy"..... she must be feeling better, she was bullying Tango around in the backyard this afternoon | | | |
