I got up to the pound this morning at 7:30 and i waited until they opened at 8:30. Actually the guy came out and got me. She is wonderful, gets along with Gypsy just fine, a little grumbling over the food, but thats understandable, coming from where she comes from. She calmed down and walked on a leash pretty good, and rode in the car perfect! I will be getting a few pictures up of her in a few. you will be able to see her here http://360.yahoo.com/kyller_one I feel SO lucky! Thank you to every one in the chat that have put up with me the last few weeks as I searched for a new addition, through my hopes and disappointments. I have not settled on a name as of yet, but right now I am thinking Tala, AM. Indian for wolf. It is so nice to see such a beauty streached out on my couch.

UPDATE Last night went pretty well. I blocked her in the kitchen which connects to the dining room, which I had been using as a bedroom, ansd she did wonderful. Gypsy and Tala played this morning for the first time. What a relief! She went to the Vet this afternoon, and check out! No worms, no flea's, no other bad stuff. wooo hooo The Vet said I got quite a deal, said she was beautiful, kept saying "you got her from the pound?" I am so lucky. Now on to manner training. She is horrible about food. Food aggression that is not good at all. The Vets thinks she will get over that when she realizes she won't have to fight or protect whats hers. I think she will be fine with time too. Just a whole lot of work getting there. Thanks everyone, I think she is quite a catch. :)

Congrats Zig! She's absolutely gorgeous! If you have any concerns at all about the resource guarding, you can get a book by Jean Donaldson called "Mine" which has great suggestions for how to deal with this. agilitynut, Brodie and Kyp!

Wow... Thanks for the tip. Right now I am sitting on the floor between the dogs reaching in the bowl and feeding them both from my hand and on the floor. I hope she will see that they have to share. I was also given the suggestion to put another bowl in another room for Gypsy until the matter is settled. Poor Gyps is afraid to eat.

Congrats on Tala !! I agree with a different location, but make the new location for Tala not for Gypsy (leave her dish where it is). Both dogs will learn which area is their for dinner time. Worked for Molly & Zorro when I got him - her area was utility room (where it always was) his was the kitchen. Once I moved - both are now fed in the kitchen, but they still know their individual bowls. Good Luck!

Update - update: Tay Tay is doing so good. Not near as much trauma as I thought there would be. For the being grumpy about toys and bones, I pretty much over whelmed them both with new stuff. So far seems to be working, Gypsy is chewing a bone right now, Tala is playing with a rope toy. Still a little problem with the food, but I sorta did the same thing with food. I have 5 food bowls in different places, and I am keeping them all full. Tala can see there is no want for food and she *seems* to be getting it so far. I have left for 2 hours 2 days in a row and put Tala in her Crate and left Gypsy out, although Gypsy's crate is near and open. Tala did great, when I walked in the door she was laying down and started wagging her tail. She got very happy when I closed the house door, she couldn't get out of the crate fast enough. The problem... grrrrrrr somehow she is getting in the living room (I block it off) at night and peeing on the floor. This is the only time she has an accident, I guess I am so out of it I don't her how she is getting into the other room. She has to be walking across the top of her crate. That is what I am using to block the room off. It's pretty tall. Well... thats my story (to date) and I'm sticking to it. :)

Kat, Regarding the night time prob - have you tried crating her all night? Most dogs won't "go" where they sleep. Once she is perfect (for quite a few days in a row, then try letting her out again. Also, if need be, pick up her water about an hour before her last "outside". If she's not drinking at night, might help alleviate the issue too. Just a thought.
