| www.dogscouts.org is the address for Dog Scouts. They have a big camp in Michigan every year and if there is not a troop in your area, you or someone else can start one. This year is the first Texas mini-camp, 3 days and believe me all days are packed with activities. Some things we'll be doing: Shaping & Target (stick training), Shaping & Field, Dog Scout Class, Water Class, fun & games, Arts & Crafts, Retrieve training, First Aid for dogs, My dog can do that game...just to tweak your interest! OH...and they earn merit badges and even have a sash to put them on!
We meet once a month and the activites are all geared to obedience, so it's a great way to reinforce commands. Last meeting we were at we played "Lassie says", there was a three way tie for first place and Tiponi was one of them. We had to put a frisbee on our head and heel our dogs zig-zagging through cones! Tiponi was great...I had trouble.
It's also a great way to be active and what better way to do that than with your canine companion?
I don't know anything about this one but it's another place to have fun with your furbaby!
Gone-to-the-Dogs http://camp-gone-tothe-dogs.com/ in Vermont might be good for people who live in the Northeast. | | | |
