I rcvd an email today re a dog, Cassie, that needs a good home very soon. I'm going to paste the email & flyer below & hopefully someone may be able to help. (Here is a link where you can see photo & get more info: www.lostdogrescue.org click on available dogs and she's listed as "Jaynelle aka Cassie") Email: I am forwarding this to you only because I am hoping that there is the slightest chance that you might know someone who could adopt this beautiful doggie. She is on the ropes because the money that is being used to keep her alive could be going to the other rescue dogs and she will be put down if someone doesn't take her soon. Her positive and negative quality is she becomes very protective of the person(s) who are caring for her. The "experienced dog handler" simply needs to express to her that they are in control and that THEY are the "alpha" dog. She is not nasty, she was just placed with inexperienced dog owners. So sad! If anyone you know might be interested, please call the numbers at the bottom of the flyer. Cynthia or Claire will give you the particulars. I know you are all dog lovers so I thought I'd start with you. ------------- Flyer pasted: URGENT: ADOPT CASSIE! This beautiful hound mix has the heart and soul of a German Shepherd. She's highly intelligent, very loving, and protective of her people. Cassie needs a dog-savvy owner who can keep an eye on her protective behavior. Are you the right home for this special dog? Cassie is a 70-pound, spayed Female, who is about 4 years old. She once mothered a litter of 5 girl puppies, all of whom were adopted into loving homes more than 2 years ago. Cassie is housebroken and obedience trained, and also answers to Jaynell and Fish. Experienced dog handlers can easily manage Cassie without incident, however, she recently attempted to bite a stranger at a crowded adoption event. As a result, her rescue group is no longer willing to represent her and death is imminent. Please call ASAP if you can help. Call Cynthia (703-567-5331) or Claire (703-706-9542)

UPDATE... pasted below is the latest info/email. Again, thanks to all. If anyone is interested, please contact Cynthia at : Cynthia.J.Young@abc.com --- you can tell her that friends of Cassie the dog moved her yesterday out of the rescue faculty where she was in danger and into a boarding facility owned by a good dog trainer whose going to work with her. She was taken of a good physical and the vet thought she behaved marvelously, especially for a dog with abuse issues. Vet was a natural with handling these kinds of dogs, we didn't need a muzzle..just food, sweet talk and a bit of care. She will stay in this new place to get some training, get some friendship but it will take money and she eventually needs (and deserves) a home of her home. She's a loving sweet dog that just needs an owner who understands she needs to be introduced to strangers with care.
