| I am on disability, so can not afford a vet. My cat has an unusual ear condition. I first thought it was ear mites, so got drops and this ear oil to put in her ears that was suppose to help loosen any matter inside the ear, but that did not work. So, finally found a good price on eBay for a product called PetAlive Dr. Ear, and it seems to be working, as she is not scratching as much, but I am still getting this brown junk out of her ear, when I clean them with a cotton q-tip, but I do not see any kind of mites on the q-tip. So, can someone please help me with this matter, as it is driving my cat and me crazy.......... | | | |

| | I had a dog with continual 'brown junk' in his ear. He had allergies and the vet said it's like us having a snotty nose. I just cleaned them a lot. | | | |

| | dogs and cats can get different kinds of ear infections depending on what kind of bacteria are present. If the issue isn't resolving, I'd guess you're using the wrong product for the kind of bacteria your cat has. Do some research about the product you're using to see what it treats...yeast (most common), rods, staph, etc. It may take a lot of trial and error (and more money in the long run) to treat without having a vet take a look...maybe call around to ask what the bare minimum would be for a simple exam, ear smear (taking a swab of the ear debris and looking at it under a microscope), and medication. That way you use the right product and don't waste your money on trying different things that don't work. Good luck! | | | |

| This animal should really see a vet, if it has had this condition and it has not gotten better, it is only fair to the cat to be able to receive vet care. | | | |

| It could be mites or an infection, please consider a way to see a vet (charge card, lowered payments, etc.). You might have to check around. It could be a few things. | | | |

| I'm not sure where you are located, but sometimes vets charge almost nothing if you explain your situation. Also, please consider asking a rescue for help...maybe they can guide you in the right direction. Good luck. | | | |

| just because you are on disability means you cannot afford a vet?
that is ridiculous thinking!! i am all for people having pets, but there are many low-cost vet clinics and rescue places that will work with you and your budget. your cat needs to see a vet since the problem has not gone away...just for peace of mind!
if you cannot do this, then maybe you shouldn't have considered even getting a pet to begin with. sorry, just being truthful... | | | |

| I stopped in to see if there was any undate from the OP on how this cat was doing? It is sad to say but if one can not afford health care for there pets then they should not have pets. Hopefully the cat is doing alright. | | | |
