We are moving along with our two dogs and a cat. Trying to think of the best way to introduce them to a new home.   Would appreciate some ideas on this subject.    Thank You,samandpat

Unfortunately, I don't think there's an easy way to introduce pets to a new home.  You are very fortunate to have more than one pet because one will help the other.  My male cat followed the female around for comfort.  Prior to that move, he hid for a week and nearly got stuck in the basement in cinder blocks!  I don't for a second believe in having cats loose in a car...it just isn't worth the risk.  Make them safe and secure in the car, don't feed them too close to the time you leave, and they'll settle down after a day or so.

Well, I can't speak for the dogs (they are more adaptable anyhow), but when I move to a new place with my cat, I keep him confined to one room (usually the bedroom, so I can be with him) with everything he needs... until he feels comfortable enough to explore the rest of the living space.

Cats feel safer when they are not out in the open, and have places to hide. :)

I moved cross country with my 3 dogs a couple mths ago  all i did was let them check the place out for a bit and they where fine  also i brought there beds with me and some of there toys so they had the smell of "home" with them  but they where fine    when i got here my stuff wasnt here yet so they loved the extra room for there  "race track"   lol  and when my stuff came i just made sure i kept them out of the way .

 good luck

I have moved with 2 dogs and a cat more times than I care to think about!! Never had a problem....especially with the dogs. The cat would hide and scope out the place in her own time. I just made sure she new where the litter box was!

Good luck!

I think the worry is more of a "stress" on the human worring about how the pets will do in a new location.... pets seem to do just fine, they may even enjoy the new adventure

I recently moved and my pets were all fine...no stress at all...like Newfs said, I think we as humans sometimes project our stress onto our animals... my two dogs and one cheetoh adapted in a matter of hours

Good Luck! and remember, calm leadership
