Our 8 (almost 9) year old pit bull mix had to have emergency surgery on Monday due to a spleen tumor that had ruptured. He had very vague symptoms Sunday late afternoon with just a poor appetite and seemed a little lazier than usual. We were shocked that he would have died if we hadn't taken him to the vet. We are still waiting for the results of the biopsy, if it is cancer, life expectancy is only 3-4 months. Our four year old daughter is so in love with this dog (the rest of us too) we really need him around for a few more years!  We needs lots of prayers that he does not have cancer. Please pray for him. Thanks .

My prayers with hugs go out to your family. It's very scary when they get sick suddenly and you have to wait to find out if it's serious. My 13 yr old GSP just had a cracked molar that had abcessed removed. While doing that our vet found a small tumour up inside her gum. Now we're waiting for the results to find out what it is. Very nerve racking. Best of luck with the results. Your baby will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Your family memeber will be in my thoughts & prayers. I can't say I know what your going through, because thankfully, I haven't had to deal with anything like that with my dog....yet. Keep us posted & GOOD LUCK!! Kristen & Daisy

As heart breaking as a dog's sudden illness is, it does happen, especially as they age. We had to handle a similar situation when my son was also four, and very attached to the dog. Knowing that we would want another one soon, we also spent the time that our dog had left to be on the search for our next one... that way explaining to a young child that death is part of life, was a little easier. We found another wonderful dog, and shortly after losing our senior one, we adopted again.

Thanks so much to everyone who prayed for our dog and family. We got the biopsy results today and great news...he does not have cancer!!!! Our vet was even shocked since we were initially told it was more likely cancer than not. We are all just so happy and thankful everything turned out so great.
