I have been driven to this, my very first post on the AA boards. (Never thought I'd be a member of AA!)

I adopted a "sweet" little Goffins Cockatoo a couple of years ago, and my home hasn't been quiet since. I've tried everything: covering, ignoring, getting her out to play when she's calm & quiet, new toys to entertain her. Nothing has seemed to work. Any thoughts? Ideas? Aspirin donations?

Thanks!

lol I know how you feel. They are nosiy little critters. does he/she have a mirror? it might be lonely for a mate. but then agian that can cause them to be less social. because they never want to leave there cage. I don't know. I gave mine to may dad and thats what he did but it still was loud.

cockatoos are know as screaming, loud birds! sometimes they scream for attention -b/c u go to the cage to shoosh it. maybe playing a radio or tv quietly during the day would give it more stimulation. my friend's cockatiel's favorite show was Scooby Doo...she would whistle along to the theme song. my bird only gets loud 2x a day, so it is very tolerable! 10-12hr of pitch darkness a night might help inforce bedtime and get it on a happier day schedule.
