I buy PetGuard Herbal Collars for my two pups. They are distributed by PetGuard Inc. which is located in Orange Park Fla. 32073. They are made in the USA. I myself don't like using the chemical collars or ointment and these work without hurting my pets.

Look at www.liquidfence.com. I use their liquidnet on my pets (can be used on humans too), but Ilive in PA and I know fleas and ticks are much worse in the south (I used to live in SC).

I use Brewers yeast with garlic, It is a great deterent to fleas and ticks. Unfortunately there is not much out there, natural or not, that is a guarentee. Try looking on Dog.com and Theonly naturalpetstore.com. Thes are two sites for natural interventions. Hope this helps and good luck.

I also use brewers yeast and garlic tablets for fleas, and have done so fo about 20 years and have never seen a flea since I started using it.  I give one tab per 10 lbs per day and then have always thrown one extra in just to be sure.  My Saint cross at 124 lbs gets 13/day,  my Springer at 51 lbs gets 6.  I still get ticks on them.  Since I have used it for so long, I don't know if I would have moreticks without it.  I also just saw and ordered a natural product for fleas and ticks from KV Vet called Flea Away.  It is supposed to keep both fleas and ticks off of your pet.  I figured it might help with ticks and at 12.99 for 100 I figured I would try it.  They say it takes 4 wks before you can expect it to work.  you give 1 tab for up to 50 lbs/day; 2 to 51-100lbs per day, and 3 for 101-150 lbs/day.  It is for dogs and cats and also repels misquitoes.

Don't know if it works, but i am going to give it a try for the ticks anyway.

Try diatomaceous earth. You can get it at your local garden center or at Lowe's or Home Depot. It's not a poison and is safe for pets and humans. Spread it around your yard and you can even dust your pets with it. It kills bugs/fleas by literally piercing them and then dehydrating them. It's also safe to treat your rugs with. One note DON'T get the kind for pool filters. It should be listed as food grade or pharmaceutical grade. Hope this helps.

adding a very tiny pinch of garlic to their food daily seems to help lots with the fleas and ticks. Although this takes time and will not happen overnight.

I had a spray I mixed up although not sure entirely how well it works but it makes them smell nice

depending on the size of spray bottle if you have larger plant watering spray bottle to

16 drops of Peppermint Oil

16 drops of Eucalyptus Oil

Apple Cider Vinegar

and Water to slightly dilute.

(carefull with the oils, if they are full strength don't over do them)
