Is it ok to vacuum a cat? A friend told me that they did and the cat liked it, but afterwards it slept for an unusually long time-??

Why would a cat be vacuumed? There are a number of good combs and brushes for removing excess fur! I don't know whether it is safe to vacuum a cat but would not recommend it.

I have never heard of vacuuming a cat before..... better not use the powerhead of the vacuume, or you might find your cat in the canister

Actually the powerhead is what was used. But the cat is fine- from what I hear. I just didn't know whether this was a good idea or not- you never know, and peer advice can be so helpful.

My Mya gets the vacuum treatment and she likes it! Believe me when I tell you this because if she didn't like it I wouldn't be able to type this message to you all! She  would have had my arms and hands shredded and clawed to a bloody mess. It does work and she lets me even go against the grain of her fur and I do her tummy too! Beats the furminator ...haha. I empty out  the captured cat fur for the birds outside which like to use it along with the horses mane hair for building their nest!

Yes but did you use the powerhead part? Apparently that isn't a good idea- I don't know. I vacuum my dogs but they don't like it

Dakota, If I tried that with Sampson, I'd look like shredded wheat...

and yet he sleeps at night with his mama holding his "hand" ...typically a couple hours after he's devoured a 12 oz. raw rib-eye

GOD I love that boy

I just had a mental image of buzz cut newfs......I saw an Old English Sheepdog on the beach in St. Augustine a few years back and it took me a while to figure out what it was 'cause it had a buzz cut. I kept thinking, d*** sure looks familiar.....

Gosh, my cat hides for hours when I vacumm. The vacumm is his arch enemy.

But I did just get the Furminator brush/comb thing they advertise it on this site. It's really awesome. I highly recomment it for both cats and dogs. I used it on both. My cat really loved it, but he loves being brushed in general.
