So there is this crazy lady we know as Mom... Mom is a dog loving loon who spends her days volunteering for every and all dog related cause. I am pretty sure she was born this way but truely PEEKED at the age of 28 when she found our 1st pack member Ruby. Ruby was left in a shopping cart in a Walmart parking lot it was about 120 degrees out, no exageration. Mom spotted her and swooped her up. Brought her back to a healthy condition while franticly trying to find the person who left her to die. Ruby was just 6 weeks old at the time. She is now about to be 5! Next we have Maximus he's the Big Boy who Mom happened upon in a shelter she never knew existed, she had to take the Madi girl our youngest furless to the potty. Max was scheduled to be euthanized that day. The shelter urged Mom not to get him as she had young children and he is a pit mix. BOL! THATS FUNNY! Not so much. Max was 4 months old, and flee covered was taken from that shelter and brought home. He is my Moms soul mate. At the age of 30 Mom broke her back. NO FUN. She had to have surgery it failed. When Moms back surgery had failed she was devistated, and to cheer herself up and get her head right again she went to the nearest shelter to love some pups in need. thats where she found Lucy. One of a huge litter born into the shelter. It was love at first lick. So she came home too! Mom really became passionate about saving as many dogs as she could she did foster, rehoming, transport. You name it she did it. Then one night she gets an email saying there was a chihuahua baby in desperate need, sick and about to be euthanized. Mom hopped in her car and drove for 4 hour only to arrive minutes before Franklin was to be PTS. Mom had never seen anything quite as sad as our MIRACLE Franklin. Tiny, Bald, Blind scarred head you name it. He opened a whole different place in Moms heart... Of course he came home. He was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and several vets told Mom to put him down. She fired them all. LOL She finally found a vet who had a heart and some hope. Even thought he informed Mom that Franklin would never make it to see the age of one. Mom found a neuro specialist in NH and they hopped on a plane and spent 4 months there. Franklin has OVERCOME every obstacle, he is A MIRACLE and will be turning 1 in just 21 days!!!!! Franklin turned moms attention to hydro-dogs, and Mom saved another one who was about to be PTS. Our Angel at the Rainbow Bridge, Delilah. Mommy fought very hard for her little life and gave her the love she never knew. She passed away at the way too young age of 4 months. It was devistating. Mom greived and then said I have to get back to my purpose and keep saving lives. She was setting up to do a transport and foster for Bonny Belle a chihuahua from the huge Phoenix hording. Well by the time Mom got her home, she was part of the pack... And then finally we have our Topher. Topher and his 2 brothers and Mom were dropped at the shelter. Mom spends lots of time there socializing the dogs. Topher picked Mom. There really is no other way to explain it. He would only respond to her. He didn't play with his furblings or the shelter workers. He lived for Moms daily visits. She waited till he became adoptable and brought him home. At last our 6 pack is complete. Mom still does transport, and rescue. She will never stop. She fights against BSL, she fights for us. She LOVES! |
