Hello everyone! My name is Fallon, and i am Buster and TJ's mom. I'm kinda new here. I was sure exactly where to post this message, so i kind of posted it in a few different catagories. I hope no one minds.

I do a lot of volunteering and research for animals, and am also in the process of writing my first book about what animals go through in animal testing labs. My pastor at church is even helping me by looking up bible verses that relate to animals, how they should be treated, etc. I am a huge animal lover, and believe in animal rights. Every living creature means something to me.

Anyways, i just wanted to share this quick bit of information with you! Did you know that recyling your cans, and then donating that money you receive for recyling your can's, can hell animals in need!?!? I was surprised at how many of my friends and family didn't recyle their cans. In fact, i just started recyling my cans about 2 months ago, after i researched some information.

Here's the cool news::  If only 1/4 of the US population were to recyle their cans, and donate that money to the animal shelters in the US, there would be enough money to feed EACH animal shelter for an entire year, plus some!! (Estimted 1.2 Billion dollars). Iss't that cool? I though so, so i wanted to share with everyone. If you don't recyle your cans, please think about it. That money can really help animals in need.

Many animal shelters eunthanize (put the animals to sleep) due to the lack of space and food. On average, and animal only has 2 weeks in the shelter before being put to sleep. I know, this is a sad fact, but its true and people need to hear the truth. However, if people were to start recyling their cans and donating that money to an animals shelter, any animal shelter, this could all be helped! The money could be used to help feed the animals, and also help to find them homes, expand the shelters, pay medical bills, etc.

Recyling cans doesn't cost you anything, except driving to the recyling shelter. Please condiser donating your recyling money to animals in need, and telling others as all!  Each person CAN make a differance.

I admire your compassion for animals and I think this is a great start. I got two of my dogs from shelters and they give me so much. I want other dogs in shelters to have the chance at a good home. Thank you for helping raise awareness and education. I will start saving my cans too!

This is an easy way to help animals and also to help the environment.  Rolling Acres, a memorial garden for pets where our beloved boxer is buried, takes the cans and donates the money to homeless people's pets.  Many are surprised that homeless people have pets.  If we ever see someone who has a dog standing on a corner asking for money, my husband and I always give them some money and also a sack of dog treats that we carry around in the car for such an occasion.  If you live in the greater Kansas City area, Rolling Acres is located at 12200 N. Crooked Road, KC, MO 64152, and their number is 816-891-8888.  They would be glad to accept your donation of cans for the pets.

What an awesome idea! I have a bag of cans and will definitely donate the money to a shelter. We have a new shelter opening, it's a small one, but would I be able to pass this info to them? Perhaps make it a contest for kids to see who can collect the most cans. Thanks for sharing! -sharon
