Consider holding community meetings to benefit animals in your own town or county. Work with local rescues and shelters, ask what they need, and proceed with the information you have. Consider meeting with other good folks in your community to discuss ways to make things better for your animals. Ask people to run ads at no charge to you (local TV/cable community access, newspapers, etc.). Make plans to ask for help and educate folks on what is needed. Make arrangements (in advance) to meet 3-4 times a year in a public place (VFW hall, library meeting room, etc.)---letting the community know you need help with their community's animals (maybe fostering is your primary goal). From these meetings, you should be able to form a community group so you aren't working alone. If you have enough cooperation (vets, rescuers, shelters, general public), any city can become a no-kill city. Only exception will ever be: rabid dogs, attack dogs, and terminally ill/suffering animals. |
