Hello out there. I am new to this site and forum. I came across this section where people talk about and/or list the animals they've adopted or need homes for, etc.

Well, my story is this...I lost my boy a little over 2 years ago and have not been in a situation where I could even think of getting another friend. I would not have anyway b/c of feeling pain and all. Anyway, I have been living with a friend of mine in WV and I would always see this golden mix sitting outside tied to a 10-15 foot lead. He never was away from this building and I know he was being fed and watered, but never saw anyone spend ANY time with him. This began to irritate me as it would any pet lover and I decided to keep a closer watch. Well, he was being fed and given water but really, that WAS it. I then noticed, just a couple of weeks ago, how it looks as though the people who lived in the trailer (who were "caring" for him) seemed to be moving things out here and there and also, they seemed to be there less and less. Finally, last week, I saw that their cars were gone, but he was not. I called the local shelter here and she suggested I call the dog warden. Being that I knew he would not fare much better there, but having no other place for him, I did so. The dog warden did check on him to see if he had any tags or anything that would prevent him from immediately removing him and the dog had none, so he picked him up that day and took him to the shelter. Now, b/c he was tied to his box for over 4 years (he'll be 5 this year) and he seems so starved for attention, he is not slated to be neutered right now but is more likely to be euthanized if he isn't applied for.

I go and walk this boy every single day for over a half mile and he is getting along great with me and walking very well for just a week or less time.

Anyway, I am now trying to convince my friend to allow me to  foster him and buy him some time while the manager of the shleter tries to locate a home or rescue for him and also, I can try too. She seems reluctant b/c she already has a dog, is in the middle of cancer treatment and is also planning on moving within the next 6 months. Kind of makes my asking  a huge request, but I will try anyway.

I have a few pictures of him and where he is. He's on petfinder.com under the zip code of 26155 and his name(which i gave him) is Bud. I am looking for help or ideas on anything to get him somewhere. He is a very loving boy who would make a great pet. So, I leave off asking for any help for this animal.

By the way, he is a Golden/Chow mix that acts like a Golden but the tongue(blue) of a Chow. He is getting great on his walks, can be trained and loves people. He may need socializing with other pets, but I feel he will be fine very quickly there as well.

Please help.

You might try the Golden Retreiver Rescue group in your area. If they don't have room, they usually have a substantial list of people who will foster.

Good advice on contacting a Golden rescue group in your area.    Sometimes you have to search neighboring  states as well.

Bless you for taking time to walk this dog in need, and for advocating for him.
