I found it via Petfinder, I was looking for a GSD and there was an AD. I decided to click and look the site over. Then I decided to join and look around. I went into the chat almost right away and found some pretty awesome people there, so I kept coming back

My local newspaper had an article about grooming and boarding facility that was holding singles mixers for people and their pets. Within the article, there was a casual mention of this website.
I checked it out and signed up that day.
I think when I joined there were 36 members.
I seem to recall it was about 3 or 4 months before I entered the chat room. There was a post from Dan 'advertising' it, but every time I would peek in, no one was using it.
Eventually, i would just go in and sit there for a few hours and see who came in.
Basenjidad and I became the 'regulars' and eventually a small group began using it for our 'little fireside chats'. Eventually this seemed to draw more and more people.
I've lost count how many people I have met over the years, but it has to be hundreds. We had a few kooks, but all in all, I have met some really great people. | | | |

Oh my gosh! I didn't realize how long ago I had joined until I looked back at my profile and it said my dog was 2 1/2 (I guess i should change that, since it doesn't update like our ages do here!! )
he is now 5 1/2
I joined initially back in October of 2004. My mother told me she had heard about the site, as my family all lives back East and some in DC as well.
I decided to try it out, but didn't find many members from out here in Colorado and didn't realize there was a chat until a few months later. I was reading an article and it talked about this site and that there was chat! Ever since then, probably about six months after joining, I started frequenting chat and the message boards!
I love this site and it is one of my favorites that I visit every day!!
