When I was 4 years old my dad brought home a cat named April. She had been abandoned on the side of the road along with her litter mates. Right away I fell in love. April continued to be the most amazing cat I've ever owned. When I was 18 she moved to my first apartment with me. She stayed with me for a year after that and then she was just oo old to move as much as I was. She stayed with my parents then but continued to be mine and I saw spent loads of time hanging out with her when I visited them. In may 2008 shorlty after April turned 19, she took a turn for the worse. She couldn't move for about 3 days, my mom was forcing water down her and what food she could. I was due for a visit the following Sunday so I desperately wanted her to hold on. Sadly, the Wednesday before I was to visit I decided that making her suffer for my selfish reasons just wasn't fair, especially after all the years of loyalty she had given me. I called my mom and told her to have her euthanized the next day. I had a good cry and I know she thought of me when she left. My mom was just visiting and brought April's ashes to me along with a clay mold of her foot print with her named in it and a pink ribbon. I'll always remember April and the years of joy she gave to me and my family. |
