and you never find them. There is no real closure.I use to wonder which could be worse, witnessing the death of your beloved pet or them dissapearing without a trace? I had this happen to me twice so far in my life. The first time was my beloved dog Kuba.I had him for ten years at the time of his dissapearance.I had just moved into a new apartment with my new baby girl and my dog.I was told by the realtor pets were allowed, or I never would have moved in.One day the landlord shows up and tells me "no pets allowed"I told him I would find a place to send my dog until I could find another apartment.I asked my Dad if he would take him temporarily and he said yes.The day I last saw him, he was sitiing on the steps , like he always did , as I left for a few hours with my baby daughter to go see my Mom.When I got home, there was no sign of him,I kept waiting for him to come home , but he never did.I had just bought him a new leather collar with his name engraved on it, plus he had dog tags to Identify him.I did everything to find him possible, ads in the newspaper, there was never a body found or any trace of him.He knew the area well we lived in.I always have suspected foul play of that landlord.Someone called me about my ad & told me they saw a dog matching his description on a nearby pond.I never found him.I shut down emotionally and I had a new baby to take care of.That was a brief summary, very emotional for me. The other was a kitten I took in and named him Leonardo. He was a long gray haired beautiful boy.My daughter picked out his twin brother and I took him home.He was two months old when we took him in.I do have two other cats and I let them go outdoors in the good weather.I have my own home , a huge yard, three acres of land, so plenty of room for them to roam.Leo loved it outside once he got his first taste of it.He was about eight months old when he started going out with the other cats.He loved being outside.I never saw any problem with this.Hindsight is everything. My other two cats had a healthy balance of outdoors and inside.Leo never wanted to come in, and when it was summer, he was just coming in to eat.One day he did not come back and I have no idea what happened to him.We do live in a area where there is alot of wild life.I searched for him everyway I could. He was going to be one year old in August and he dissapeared one month before his B-Day.My daughter still has his twin brother and it is still hard for me to see him.I keep accidentally calling him Leo. Has anyone else had pets dissapear without a trace and never found? |
