Dear Friends,

It is with great sorrow and an extremely heavy heart we annoynce the pasing of our beloved and sweet Ziggy. Ziggy went to the Rainbow Bridge on August 21st. He fought to stay with mommy and daddy as long as his little body would let him, in the end we decided he should rest so he may run in the Basil fields he loved so much.

Ziggy was only 18 months old and during his short life he was happy and very much loved. He was our sweet little fur baby that loved to squeal when he heard mommy walking down the hall as he knew it was "feeding time". He sure did have a great pair of lungs for such a small little body. He loved to run with his brother Chomper in the herb garden where they could both eat basil, parsley, and tomatoes to their hearts content. He loved going under the cover's when we brought him and Chomper into our room for a nap. He loved lying in the grass on warm days. His favorite foods where planted just outside in our garden with love and care.

We did everything we could to save his life and we know he tried to hold on.  His teeth had overgrown and the Dr's were able to trim them back. But then he had a hard time eating and dispite the hand feeding - his body had a bad reaction to the anti-biotics and it shut down his system anything that came in went straight out. His body weakend dispite our attempts to save him. His kind DR. changed his medication and treated his bad reaction to the meds. But he had already lost over 40% of his body weight. His body was no longer obsorbing any nutrients and he continued to lose weight.  In his last days he has happy he had energy he knew we loved him.

That morning was a different story when I went to pick him up to feed him. He could no longer get up and he struggled to breathe, his body was cold and limp. We rushed him to his Dr. while I tried to help him breathe. He was slowly passing away in my arms and I couldnt do anything to save him. When we got to the Dr.'s office they put him on a ventilator and we knew he would not make it. We wanted him to stop suffering. We were able to say our goodbye's. We knew we had to let him go he was suffering and he kept looking at me through all his ordeal on his way to the vet.

He was so strong and full of life- he fought to stay alive. He can not rest and run in the herb fields he will not feel pain he can eat all the cucumbers, tomatoes and parsley he wants.

We will be returned to us and his ashes spread in the back yard area he loved to run around in. He will always be in our hearts. Chomper will also miss him... I know he will because he is already looking for his dear friend Ziggy.

Ziggy inspired others to Adopt other Guinea pigs- Beacuse of Ziggy and Chomper- my friend adopted  2 little Guinea pigs from a rescue and now she a volunteer with a guinea pig rescue helping other little guinea pigs find forever homes.

We miss him dearly

Thank you freinds for your support.

Jeany, Hapton, and Chomper.

Dear Jeany,
I am so so sorry to hear about Ziggy. In his short life you gave him lots of love. He's at The Bridge with my Mindy and Bella. They will watch over him.
