I was Cody's Aunt as he belonged to my parents, but I was his "caregiver" most of his life of almost 14 years.  He passed away in March of 2008.  I miss him so much!  I don't think I will ever get over losing this sweet and beautiful maltese fur baby!...Everyone loved him!  I can't get a dog where I live and I am not home most of the time and would not want to leave him alone.  It is so darn frustrating because I do love animals so much.  I prefer the small dogs to take care of because it is easier for me as I am not a "kid" anymore!...The only shelters we have in New York City are mostly very large breed dogs and I don't have a car to get out to Long Island or New Jersey.  It seems like most of the small dog rescue are out of state.  I called up the "Maltese Rescue Group", but they don't even have an office in New York.  Any suggestions?....Thanks...

Hi Rose - so very sorry to hear of your loss. My Lady went over the Rainbow bridge yesterday. We found out she had stomach cancer during the endoscopy yesterday, & I really couldn't see bringing her home & having her live whatever time she had in pain. She wasn't digesting her food, & the cancer was at the opening of the stomach & intestine & had just about closed it. She was just the best dog, & we're really going to miss her.

Nancy
