posted by Kate Schnepel, Best Friends staff
More than 750 dogs and cats will be looking for new families at the Pet Super Adoption in Salt Lake City. The event is scheduled for September 14th-16th at the PetSmart on 389 W. 1830 S. Event hours will be:
Fri (9/14) from 2pm - 7pm
Sat (9/15) from 10am - 7pm
Sunday (9/16) from 11am – 4pm
More than 20 rescue groups and shelters will be bringing dogs and cats from all over Utah to the event, which is presented by No More Homeless Pets in Utah in partnership with PetSmart Charities.
Also, to help educate pet lovers and raise awareness for pet rescue, the second annual Purina® Pro Plan® Rally Across America tour will be stopping in Salt Lake City during the Pet Super Adoption.
At the event, residents will have the opportunity to learn more about pet rescue, adopt dogs and cats from local organizations and get schooled in training tips from Pro Plan trainer, Melissa Heeter and her rescue dog, Viola. Heeter will provide customized training techniques based on three distinct rescued pet personality profiles. Pet owners can use these techniques at home with their own pets or their newest four-legged friend.
“Many pet lovers have concerns about adopting a rescue pet, because they believe they are more difficult to train due to behavioral problems from past treatment or neglect,” said Melissa Heeter, Pro Plan trainer. “What they don’t realize is pets of all ages can benefit tremendously from just a little training. It only takes a few simple tips and techniques to help make a rescued pet feel more at ease in their new loving family and ensure a happy lifelong relationship.”
