The second Annual Pit Bull Awareness Day is slated for Saturday, Oct. 25, and Michelle Dunlap, director of Phoenix Animal Rescue, has appealed for help in making this year's event a hit locally. Phoenix Animal Rescue provides shelter and an adoption program primarily for Pit Bulls and Pit mixes.
"This year's event will be in the memory of last year's Spokesdog, Phoenix, the inspiration behind Phoenix Animal rescue," said Michelle. "There is alot of support for Pit Bulls here, and we need to share the excitement of this day with our community."
Michelle is seeking help in coordinating the event from pro-bully agencies including West End Animal Hospital(Operation Pitnip) and the Humane Society of Levy County which partneres with Phoenix Animal Rescue in adoptions. David Flagler, director of Alachua County Animal Services which recently received a grant from Petsmart Charities for a free Pit Bull spay/neuter program, has expressed an interest in participating.
An organizational meeting is planned for late August. For date, time and more information, contact Michelle at phoenixanimalrescue@yahoo.com. |
