JJ it was a very cute tattoo and that is all I will say at this point.

A few more song lyrics:

'Twas in another lifetime, one of toil and blood
When blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud
I came in from the wilderness, a creature void of form.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

And if I pass this way again, you can rest assured
I'll always do my best for her, on that I give my word
In a world of steel-eyed death, and men who are fighting to be warm.
"Come in," she said,
"I'll give you shelter from the storm."

and by the same singer:

Lenny Bruce is dead but he didn't commit any crime
He just had the insight to rip off the lid before its time.
I rode with him in a taxi once, only for a mile and a half,
Seemed like it took a couple of months.
Lenny Bruce moved on and like the ones that killed him, gone

and:

With your sheets like metal and your belt like lace,
And your deck of cards missing the jack and the ace,
And your basement clothes and your hollow face,
Who among them can think he could outguess you?
With your silhouette when the sunlight dims
Into your eyes where the moonlight swims,
And your match-book songs and your gypsy hymns,
Who among them would try to impress you?
Sad-eyed lady of the lowlands,
Where the sad-eyed prophet says that no man comes,
My warehouse eyes, my Arabian drums,
Should I leave them by your gate,
Or, sad-eyed lady, should I wait?

probably the most prolific songwriter of the last forty years..

Dylan.

This song is very fitting in some ways and a favorite:

I am watching your chest rise and fall
Like the tides of my life,
And the rest of it all
And your bones have been my bedframe
And your flesh has been my pillow
I am waiting for sleep
To offer up the deep
With both hands
In each other's shadows we grew less and less tall
And eventually our theories couldn't explain it all
And I'm recording our history now on the bedroom wall
And eventually the landlord will come
And paint over it all
And I am walking
Out in the rain
And I am listening to the low moan of the dial tone again
And I am getting nowhere with you
And I can't let it go
And I can't get though
So now use both hands
Please use both hands
Oh, no don't close your eyes
I am writing graffitti on your body
I am drawing the story of how hard we tried
Hard we tried
How hard we tried

another few lines I love:

Thank you
For letting me stay here
Thank you for taking me in
I don't know where else
I would have turned
But I don't come and go
Like a pop song
That you can play incessantly
And then foget when it's gone
You can't write me off
And you don't turn me on

Ani Difranco

Right now we are working around the weather trying to paint and plant before the next rainshower moves in. The weather was perfect yesterday, sunny and cool and a great time to be outdoors. Our dogs ran and played but some of the work was very tiring. It is always good to have something to look forward to, a reward for getting through a major task. My rewards have been many and a hottub helped a lot. A gentle touch also heals the body and soul.

Lovely words Sweet Jane these are the only lyrics I can think of right now:

So please call me, baby
Wherever you are
It's too cold to be out walking in the streets
We do crazy things when we're wounded
Everyone's a bit insane
I don't want you catching your death of cold
Out walking in the rain

And I admit that I ain't no angel
I admit that I ain't no saint
I'm selfish and I'm cruel but you're blind
If I exorcise my devils
Well my angels may leave too
When they leave they're so hard to find

Waits of course but since you mentioned Difranco, this song comes to mind. Dan Berns Chick Singers

Dan Bern - Chick Singers

Song Lyrics

Well, this bald-headed girl I know
Sent me a tape of Bjork and Courtney Love
And PJ Harvey
Called it "Brilliant Women"
I put it in my car
Heard it all the way down to the coast
Normally, if left to my own devices
I don’t hear chick singers much
I guess it’s guys I hear the most
Sometimes these days
Don’t it seem like it’s enough
For girls to love a girl
Or use the F word prominently
Masturbate in public
Or learn guitar tied up to a post
I thought of all this hearing Bjork and Courtney Love and PJ Harvey
In my car driving to the coast

Tori Amos, Liz Phair, Sinead O’Connor,
Suzanne Vega, Jill Sobule, Melissa Etheridge,
Tracy Chapman, Ani Difranco, Michelle Shocked

Every one of them
Has something kinda special that I like
But every now and then
While listening to them
I feel like when we were kids
I pulled their hair or stole their bike
These days, it seems like
There’s a lot of girls who sing
And some of them are good
And some of them are not
But it’s always kinda cool
That moment when they first step to the mike
If I was a girl
I could sing real high
And, also, then
I’d know what having breasts would be like

Chick singers
Chick singers
Chick singers

I started thinkin’ ‘bout
Kate Bush, Patsy Kline, Billie Holiday
Janis Joplin, Bessie Smith, Patti Smith
Annie Lenox, Chrissie Hynde
And Bonnie Raitt

Seems like there’s an awful lot of women
In whose honor I would
Like to raise my glass
And give a toast
Some of them are still alive
And some, I hear their voices like a ghost
Maybe this Thursday,
I’ll throw a party
And invite every woman
That ever sang a song
This would be a party
That I think I would like to be the host
Thanks to the bald-headed girl
Whose tape of Bjork and Courtney Love
And PJ Harvey
I heard driving to the coast

Chick singers
Chick singers
Chick singers

Thanks for your help JJ and for bringing other warm bodies to help with the dog park endeavor.

Greg are you making fun of my choice?

This Lou Reed lyric might be more to your liking

And some people wait for things that never come
and some people dream of things they've never been done
they do it, oh baby, all through the night
The city's funny and the country's quiet
but I'd wanna know why they don't have a riot
why don't they do it, baby, all through the night
Ooohhh mama, ooohhh mama, tell me 'bout it
all through the night
I want to have it all through the night
If Christmas comes only once a year
why can't anybody shed just one tear
for things that don't happen all through the night
Ooohhh mama, all through the night
oh baby, do it to me all through the night
Easy, easy, baby, why don't you give it to -
- me all through the night

Better?

Ok back to more pg rated lyrics lol,

an old Irish song I once learned:

WIND THAT SHAKES THE BARLEY
  by Robert Dwyer Joyce (1830-1883)

I sat within a valley green
Sat there with my true love
And my fond heart strove to choose between
The old love and the new love
The old for her, the new that made
Me think on Ireland dearly
While soft the wind blew down the glade
And shook the golden barley

Twas hard the mournful words to frame
To break the ties that bound us
Ah, but harder still to bear the shame
Of foreign chains around us
And so I said, "The mountain glen
I'll seek at morning early
And join the brave united men"
While soft wind shook the barley

Twas sad I kissed away her tears
Her arms around me clinging
When to my ears that fateful shot
Come out the wildwood ringing
The bullet pierced my true love's breast
In life's young spring so early
And there upon my breast she died
While soft wind shook the barley

I bore her to some mountain stream
And many's the summer blossom
I placed with branches soft and green
About her gore-stained bosom
I wept and kissed her clay-cold corpse
Then rushed o'er vale and valley
My vengeance on the foe to wreak
While soft wind shook the barley

Twas blood for blood without remorse
I took at Oulart Hollow
I placed my true love's clay-cold corpse
Where mine full soon may follow
Around her grave I wondered drear
Noon, night and morning early
With aching heart when e'er I hear
The wind that shakes the barley

Would PG-13 be acceptable?

I have been listening to this Irish tune for several weeks now:

The Maid That Sold Her Barley

It's cold and raw the north winds blow
Black in the morning early
When all the hills were covered with snow
Oh then it was winter fairly
As I was riding o'er the moor
I met a farmer's daughter
Her cherry cheeks and sloe-black hair
They caused my heart to falter

I bowed my bonnet very low
To let her know my meaning
She answered with a courteous smile
Her looks they were engaging
"Where are you bound, my pretty maid
It's now in the morning early?"
The answer that she made to me
"Kind sir, to sell me barley"

"Now twenty guineas I've in my purse
And twenty more that's yearly
You need not go to the market town
For I'll buy all your barley
If twenty guineas would gain the heart
Of the maid I love so dearly
All for to tarry with me one night
And go home in the morning early"

As I was riding o'er the moor
The very evening after
It was my fortune for to meet
The farmer's only daughter
Although the weather being cold and raw
With her I thought to parley
The answer then she made to me
"Kind sir, I've sold me barley"

(Déanta -- from the album "Ready For The Storm";)

Very cute song Sky, I will have to check it out sometime.

Some memorable movie quotes, I like some of the old Lee Marvin movies, here are some from Cat Ballou:

He's a murderer, a hired killer. His nose was bit off in a fight. 2) If I was gonna be scared, I'd be scared of the fella who bit it off, not him!

What's wrong with my eyes? 2) Well they're red, bloodshot. 1) You ought to see 'em from my side.

Some gang! An Indian ranch hand, a drunken gunfighter, a sex maniac, and an uncle!

You see a man with his eyes set, his teeth grinding like a mule, well you know he a gunfighter, proud and feared of nothing, because there ain't nothing on this Earth he gotta bow down to, not a boy don't know his name, not a man don't tip his hat, because with a gunfighter around, trouble just naturally stay away uh? Folks saying, hi ye Kid, how you doing Kid, come on up on the porch and cool your heels for awhile it's hot outside or come on up for some Gingerbread and a pitcher of milk, cause nobody don't make no fun of a friend of Kid Shelleen...

HI, everyone! Hope you had a lovely weekend. Too bad, so sad it's over. Greg, sounds like your project is or did finish up this weekend? If so, I hope it has become everything you envisioned.

I'm not quite sure how I forgot this one, but it's a favorite:

It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

90 miles outside Chicago
Can't stop driving
I don't know why
So many questions
I need an answer
Two years later, you're still on my mind
Whatever happened to Emilia Earhart
Who holds the stars up in the sky
Is true love once in a lifetime
Did the captain of the Titanic cry
Someday we'll know
If love can move a mountain
Someday we'll know
Why the sky is blue
Someday we'll know
Why I wasn't meant for you
Does anybody know the way to Atlantis
Or what the wind says when she cries
I'm speeding by the place where I met you
For the 97th time tonight

Someday we'll know
Why Samson loved Delilah
One day I'll go
Dancing on the moon
Someday you'll know
That I was the one for you
I bought a ticket to the end of the rainbow
I watched the stars crash in the sea
If I could ask God just one question
Why aren't you here with me?

But when the night is falling
and you cannot find the light
If you feel your dream is dying
Hold tight
You've got the music in you
Don't let go
You've got the music in you
One dance left
This world is gonna pull through
Don't give up
You've got a reason to live
Can't forget you only get what you give
Four a.m. we ran a miracle mile
were flat broke but hey we do it in style
The bad rich
God's flying in for your trial

This whole damn world can fall apart
You'll be ok follow your heart
You're in harms way
I'm right behind
Now say youre mine

Fly high
What's real can't die
You only get what you give
Just dont be afraid to leave
Health insurance rip off lying FDA big bankers buying
Fake computer crashes dining
Cloning while they're multiplying
Fashion mag shoots
with the aid of 8 dust brothers Beck, Hanson
Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson
You're all fakes
Run to your mansions
Come around
We'll kick your ass in!
Don't let go
One dance left

Jennifer lol what I said was, the pergola is finished, that is just a small part of the job. The entire project will not be done till late summer or early fall. I think the word is Italian, from the latin pergula. It is by nature like a trellis with vines growing across it for shade but it is like  a roof, the root word has to do with going in a straight line as I recall. I had about all the sun I could handle Saturday so I am resting today and enjoying some friends company.

The first is an old Elton John song?

Very good  choices Jennifer, it is refreshing to find someone who loves music also. Once allergy season lets up you will have to visit and share your voice with some friends and I. We sing mostly Irish songs but every now and then I have been known to do other things. For a while there, I was still mourning the loss of a friend and could only think of sad songs and I doubt I was much fun to be around. I know you are going through something similar now and you are in my prayers.

Here is another favorite that Rod Stewart recorded but Tom Waits wrote:]

Outside another yellow moon
Punched a hole in the nighttime, yes
I climb through the window and down the street
Shining like a new dime
The downtown trains are full
With all those Brooklyn girls
They try so hard to break out of their little worlds

You wave your hand and they scatter like crows
They have nothing that will ever capture your heart
They're just thorns without the rose
Be careful of them in the dark
Oh if I was the one
You chose to be your only one
Oh baby can't you hear me now

Chorus:
Will I see you tonight
On a downtown train
Every night its just the same
You leave me lonely, now
I know your window and I know its late
I know your stairs and your doorway
I walk down your street and past your gate
I stand by the light at the four way
You watch them as they fall
They stay at the carnival
But they'll never win you back
Chorus:
Will I see you tonight
On a downtown train
Where every night its just the same
You leave me lonely
Will I see you tonight
On a downtown train
All of my dreams just fall like rain
All upon a downtown train

I love the line, "They're just thorns without the rose"

He also wrote this very short piece, but it is so beautiful:

She's my only true love
she's all that I think of
look here in my wallet
that's her
She grew up on a farm there
there's a place on my arm
where I've written her name
next to mine
you see I just can't
live without her
and I'm her only boy
and she grew up outside McHenry
in Johnsburg, Illinois

So simple yet so poignant!!

One last song that has many poetic elements:

on a foggy night, an abandoned road
in a twilight mirror mirage
with no indication of a service station
or an all night garage, I was misinformed
I was misdirected cause the interchange
never intersected leaving me marooned
beneath a bloodshot moon
all upon a foggy night, on a foggy night
an abandoned road, in a blurred brocade
collage, is that a road motel?
I can't really tell, is that what you
might call some kind of a vacancy lodge
cause there's no consolation, what
kind of situation to be aimlessly skewed
amidst a powder blue?
no tell tail light clue
spun like the spell you spin
this precarious pandemonium
I'm stranded, all upon a foggy night
all upon a foggy night
on a foggy night

G-

Good call on the Rod Stewart. Just love him!

Yes, the first is Sir Elton. The other two are by The New Radicals - still sad they broke up about seven years ago.

If I had to pin your musical influence I'd have to say, uhm, Tom Waits?? :)

I always enjoy having a singing partner! Although, I mostly do Italian arias....but I'm a quick study on any music. I especially enjoy a little karaoke but admit I start belting out country songs!

Can't believe we haven't mentioned James Taylor, yet!

There's something in the way she moves,
Or looks my way, or calls my name,
That seems to leave this troubled world behind.
And if I'm feeling down and blue,
Or troubled by some foolish game,
She always seems to make me change my mind.
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now,
She's around me now
Just about all the time
And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now,
She's been with me now quite a long, long time
And I feel fine.
It isn't what she's got to say
But how she thinks and where she's been
To me, the words are nice, the way they sound
I like to hear them best that way
It doesn't much matter what they mean
If she says them mostly just to calm me down
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now,
She's around me now
Just about all the time
And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now,
She's been with me now quite a long, long time
And I feel fine.
Every now and then the things I lean on lose their meaning
And I find myself careening
Into places where I should not let me go.
-- She has the power to go where no one else can find me
And to silently remind me
Of the happiness and the good times that I know, got to know.
And I feel fine anytime she's around me now,
She's around me now
Just about all the time
And if I'm well you can tell she's been with me now,
She's been with me now quite a long, long time
And I feel fine.

When your down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.
You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
I'll come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring , summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You've got a freind.
If the sky above you
should turn dark and full of clouds
and that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Winter, Spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, ain't it good to know that you've got a friend?
People can be so cold.
They'll hurt you and desert you.
Well they'll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but don't you let them.
You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
I'll come running to see you again.
Oh babe, don't you know that,
Winter Spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all you've got to do is call.
Lord, I'll be there, yes I will.
You've got a friend.
You've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
Ain't it good to know you've got a friend.
You've got a friend.

Jennifer, if you start belting out country, I am likely to find an old athletic sock with which to try to stop the sound lol. I might be able to handle some of it but it is not what I generally listen to. We will work on that lol.

I do like James Taylor also, and Leonard Cohen.

"Hallelujah"

Now I've heard there was a secret chord
That David played, and it pleased the Lord
But you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this
The fourth, the fifth
The minor fall, the major lift
The baffled king composing Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Baby I have been here before
I know this room, I've walked this floor
I used to live alone before I knew you.
I've seen your flag on the marble arch
Love is not a victory march
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don't even know the name
But if I did, well really, what's it to you?
There's a blaze of light
In every word
It doesn't matter which you heard
The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though
It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Lala just asked what my favorite Cohen song was, this has to be it. I am more drawn to poets who may not have a great ability to sing, but the words, wow such words! Dylan, Waits, Cohen.

And who by fire, who by water,
who in the sunshine, who in the night time,
who by high ordeal, who by common trial,
who in your merry merry month of may,
who by very slow decay,
and who shall I say is calling?

And who in her lonely slip, who by barbiturate,
who in these realms of love, who by something blunt,
and who by avalanche, who by powder,
who for his greed, who for his hunger,
and who shall I say is calling?

And who by brave assent, who by accident,
who in solitude, who in this mirror,
who by his lady's command, who by his own hand,
who in mortal chains, who in power,
and who shall I say is calling?

For you Lala, sweet doll.

But all I've ever learned from love
Is how to shoot somebody who out drew you"

I love Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Greg. It is one of my favorite songs. Just wondering--who sings it best? My friend thinks Jeff Buckley, and I tend to agree...

Must have listened to this song by David Gray at least a hundred times today...just reading the lyrics does not do it justice, though. The music is so complex...

"Please Forgive Me"

Please forgive me
If I act alittle strange
For I know not what I do.
Feels like lightning running through my veins
Everytime I look at you
Everytime I look at you

Help me out here
All my words are falling short
And there's so much I want to say
Want to tell you just how good it feels
When you look at me that way
When you look at me that way

Throw a stone and watch the ripples flow
Moving out across the bay
Like a stone I fall into your eyes
Deep into some mystery
Deep into that mystery

I got half a mind to scream out loud
I got half a mind to die
So I won't ever have to lose you girl
Won't ever have to say goodbye
I won't ever have to lie
Won't ever have to say goodbye

Yeah na na na na
Yeah na na na na

Please forgive me
If I act alittle strange
For I know not what I do
It's like my head is filled with lightning girl
Everytime I look at you
Everytime I look at you
Everytime I look at you
Everytime I look at you

Sky I have heard several people sing it but am really not sure who I like the best. Lala things Cohen is a great singer but I do not agree. He is more of a poet who talks many of the words. I love the song you posted and will have to find it sometime. When I have an interest in someone, I tend to listen to all I can; the same thing with authors. I have been known to read a dozen books non stop if I like one book by an author. Here is a song you may not know as well, someone my father introduced me to:

Spanish Pipedream  (AKA Blow Up Your TV)
© John Prine

She was a level-headed dancer on the road to alcohol
And I was just a soldier on my way to Montreal
Well she pressed her chest against me
About the time the juke box broke
Yeah, she gave me a peck on the back of the neck
And these are the words she spoke

Chorus:
Blow up your TV throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try an find Jesus on your own

Well, I sat there at the table and I acted real naive
For I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve
Well, she danced around the bar room and she did the hoochy-coo
Yeah she sang her song all night long, tellin' me what to do

Repeat chorus:

Well, I was young and hungry and about to leave that place
When just as I was leavin', well she looked me in the face
I said "You must know the answer."
"She said, "No but I'll give it a try."
And to this very day we've been livin' our way
And here is the reason why

We blew up our TV threw away our paper
Went to the country, built us a home
Had a lot of children, fed 'em on peaches
They all found Jesus on their own

In Spite of Ourselves
©John Prine
(sung with Iris DeMent)

She don't like her eggs all runny
She thinks crossin' her legs is funny
She looks down her nose at money
She gets it on like the Easter Bunny
She's my baby I'm her honey
I'm never gonna let her go

He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays
I caught him once and he was sniffin' my undies
He ain't too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like it's oxygen
He's my baby
And I'm his honey
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a'sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.

She thinks all my jokes are corny
Convict movies make her horny
She likes ketchup on her scrambled eggs
Swears like a sailor when shaves her legs
She takes a lickin'
And keeps on tickin'
I'm never gonna let her go.

He's got more balls than a big brass monkey
He's a whacked out weirdo and a lovebug junkie
Sly as a fox and crazy as a loon
Payday comes and he's howlin' at the moon
He's my baby I don't mean maybe
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.

(spoken) In spite of ourselves

I posted these for Jennifer, Prine is a Chicago native I believe and about as close to country as I venture. His words are always interesting.

 LOL!  Very funny!

FYI - I also karoake Pat Benetar but that typically requires a martini, or two!

This conversation got me thinking about some things I've performed in the past.  There's a hysterical collection of short poems on love put into an eight part choral setting.  They are arranged so beautifully but have killer punch lines.  It's been ages, but if I have time I'll try and hunt them down to share.

Girlfriend in a coma, I know

I know – it’s serious
Girlfriend in a coma, I know
I know – it’s really serous
There was a time when I could
Have ‘murdered’ her
(but, you know, I would hate
Anything to happen to her)
NO, I DON’T WANT TO SEE HER
Do you really think
She’ll pull through?
Do you really think
She’ll pull through?
Girlfriend in a coma, I know
I know – it’s serious
There were times when I could
Have ‘strangled’ her
(but, you know, I would hate
Anything to happen to her)
WOULD YOU PLEASE
LET ME SEE HER!
Girlfriend in a coma, I know
I know – it’s serious
Let me whisper my last goodbye

I know – IT’S SERIOUS

Have a great day, everyone!

Jennifer in that case I will have to meet you at the door with a pitcher of martinis. You should start drinking immediately, you can say "hi" later lol.

Do you prefer gin or vodka? I never touch them myself but I have been known to mix a few. I am more a fan of scotch and fine wine but have been known to drink a Guinness or Gulden Drak, maybe a Stella Artois if nothing else is available.

I will try to think of some songs later, I am meeting friends for sushi. I have something funny to  tell you later Jen if you are around. Very cute and funny post by the way.

Make mine sour apple Greg, mmmmm.

Jennifer we will have to meet, you sound like fun.

Some favorite quotes, all by one person...... hush Greg

  1. Jazz is not dead, it just smells funny.
  2. Stupidity is the basic building block of the universe.
  3. Tobacco is my favorite vegetable.
  4. There is no hell. There is only France.
  5. Don't mind your make-up, you'd better make your mind up.

Why do you necessarily have to be wrong just because a few million people think you are?

Beauty is a pair of shoes that makes you wanna die.
  1. There are more love songs than anything else.
If songs could make you do something we'd all love one another.
  2. Hey, you know something people? I'm not black, but there's a whole lots a times I wish I could say I'm not white.
  3. Most people wouldn't know good music if it came up and bit them in the a......s
  4. Politics is the entertainment branch of industry.

Excellent choices Sweet Jane!!!

I am told you always drink saki hot, it is the night for it I believe and for some quotes by Saki:

He is one of those people who would be enormously improved by death.

A little inaccuracy sometimes saves tons of explanation.

The young have aspirations that never come to pass, the old have reminiscences of what never happened.

And another favorite:

Every artist makes himself born. It is very much harder than the other time, and longer.

To note an artist's limitations is but to define his talent. A reporter can write equally well about everything that is presented to his view, but a creative writer can do his best only with what lies within the range and character of his deepest sympathies.

No one can build his security upon the nobleness of another person.

Willa Cather

All time favorites:

O Lord, help me to be pure, but not yet.
Saint Augustine

If you ask me anything I don't know, I'm not going to answer.
Yogi Berra

A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore.
Yogi Berra

I believe Berra also said, "I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous".

maybe one short lyric:

Outside a rambling store-front window
Cats meowed to the break of day
Me, I kept my mouth shut, too
To you I had no words to say
My experience was limited and underfed
You were talking while I hid
To the one who was the father of your kid
You probably didn't think I did, but I heard
You say that love is just a four-letter word
Dylan

Their ivy covered burial ground lol where did you find that JJ?

Watching the cubbies now.

JJ, I'd love it! It sounds like there are so many fun new friends in GR!

G - funny story! Love the Berra quotes! Ya know I love the Cubs! They're in walking distance. You should appreciate this song.....hint: Meow!

I dig my toes into the sand…
The ocean looks like a thousand diamonds
Strewn across a blue blanket
I lean against the wind
Pretend that I am weightless
And in this moment I am happy, happy

I wish you were here (chorus should give it away)

….The world’s a roller coaster and I am not strapped in
Maybe I should hold with care
But my hands are bust in the air

"I've learned that the best remedy for a bad is two cups of hot chocolate with marshmallows, a plate of warm chocolate-chip cookies from the oven, and a good friend." Unknown

"Ring the bells that still can ring, Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything, That's how the light gets in". Leonard Cohen

Can this be right? Only one Beatles reference? SkyBlue and Reevers I know you have a few more to share!
