Hello!!  I am new to the site.  I have 2 dogs right now, Iggy and Ringo.  Iggy is a great pry and Ringo is an Australian Cattle Dog/mix.  We just adopted Ringo so we are still learning alot about him.  We have had Iggy since he was 10 weeks old.  He is my special baby since he has epilepsy, hypothyroid problems and we had a patelaluxation fixed.  But he is a love and is very happy.  We just lost our Lemmy in February.  He was the best dog ever.

I am looking forward to cruising through the site.  Hope to talk with some of you soon.

Hi Everyone,

I didn't mean to join and then just disappear! It seems like every time I sit down to write, something comes up. Again my apologies!

I am a Grandma, two making their presents known 24/7 and one on the way. I've been an animal nut all my life( sometimes I wish not so much...) and I currently have 4 dogs, three of which stay with my sister-in-law(haha) because of her large yard.

Twooie(twootie boo) is our princess and stays with us while we TRY to sell our house!  She's 9yrs old and is Daddy's Girl. Goobie Doo is my Pom and together they had 4 puppies, 3 surviving and all larger than than both parents( must be something in  her genes...I was told she was part Pom and part Chihuahua . So much for truth in selling.  Gooby is a Mama"s Boy and I'm looking forward to taking him on the road with us. He's a sweet heart beyond words.  And then there's Punkin....you've got to see this baby's big eyes and sweet face. I'll get a picture up as soon as I can.  The forth love of our lives is Cassy. She is forever a puppy at 12 yrs old.  She's part Collie and part Black Lab. Her mama was a gorgeous "AKC Collie, Sugar( SoogeySue) We lost her from unknown causes about 11 years ago...breaks my heart still today....

So there ya have it, my paw babies.

We live in the MotherLode foothills of northern Calif. about 60 miles east of Sacramento and if we can sell our log home we plan on hitting the road for a while. If it doesn't sell, we are considering renting the place.

It's good to know there are others who feel as strongly as I do about protecting the innocense of animals. It's gotten so bad for me that I can't even watch Animal Planet for fear of bursting into tears. There are even commercials !.......well you know...

I'm looking forward to meeting you all. Please drop me a line whenever you have a minute..

Thanks, Marian, Twooie and GoobyDoo

Hello...I am a computer dummy so I have to learn how to utilize this site. Right off the bat: I live in Wichita Kansas and I work at Wichita State University. I am doing this after hours since this is the only computer I use at this time . I have volunteered twice for Best friends Animal Sanctuary and I am passionate about all things animal! I just wanted to connect with fellow animal lovers (have had pen pals for years).  This is kind of a pen pal service and I hope tp meet some great friends this way! A friend and I started emailing when we volunteered during Katrina at Best Friends temporary sanctuary in Tylertown. We now email each other almost every single day and have met once when we volunteered at BF's in Utah at the same time. I had flown out to help with the animals they brought in from Lebanon...both times volunteering were incredible experiences. My "pen pal" experince with her has been very fun. I have three dogs (two miniature pinchers and one chihuahua mix)...boy, do they keep me on my toes I would like to talk to anyone and everyone who wants to change the world  to a better place for animals

Hi, I'm new here, not sure where to put this? But wanted to say "hello" to all on here, I discoved it by searching the web. I love animals, am owned by two. My Scotty I call Kelsey is my senior doggy. He will be 8 May 24th of this month. He is beloved by myself and my husband. I am now into rescue and so over a year ago, coming close to two yrs now, I rescued my Whippet I called "Sadie" in honor of a greyhound in the UK with the same name. I make videos for you tube on the horrors of greyhound racing. My passion is to help get the word out about what goes on in that "sport". Enough of that for now. Just wanted to say "hello" need to take my two out to walk. Have a great day everyone.

Hello everybody, I'm new here as well and look forward to getting to know my fellow animal 'nuts"!

I am owned by three dogs, Zoe who rescued me 13 years ago and Susie (13) and Murphy (14) who chose to live with me after my mother (and their mother) passed away.  Ava, (5) my grey, domestic short haired/fat cat was also one of my mothers brood.  I also was mom to to my baby girl Jasmine, a mixed breed feline who shared her life with me for 17 years until she passed away a year ago.  And lastly, Ruben, who passed away this past March after 17 years of a shy but happy life.  I only shared his last four years, but I am proud to have been able to give him a happy, warm home to finish out his life.

I'm new as well. My name is Doris but always go by Ladymaine on any site for my ID. I have 2 dogs A Min PIN, Angel she's 7 will be 8 in November. and Buster my Shih Tzu he just turned 5.

We live in Maine. I've always loved animals and all 3 of my grown children do as well. Actualy 1 daughter works for a Vet. I think I'm going to like visiting here although I don't get much time on my computer. Mostly only on weekends. So for those that I connect with be aware that I would never ignore you. so if you don't get quick responces, forgive me, I will eventualy get back to you.

I've owned many dogs, cats and birds. Each one has been special. As Pet lovers we know they all have their own personalities and it's those special actions that are so unique to each animal.

Well I don't want to go on and on here. Hope to post more in other topics time permitting.

Doris aka Ladymaine

Smile!

Hi, I just joined the community today.    I adopted a really cool American Pit Bull Terrier last April from the shelter.  His name is Ben, he is 9 yrs old and full of scars.  The assumption is that he was used for fighting - probably bait since he is so calm and gentle.  At the shelter, he learned his manners perfectly and he was the only dog at the shelter who was taken for nursing home visits because of his calm and gentle nature.  Ben was the favored dog at the shelter - and he loves going back for visits - they love seeing him again, too.  He's been with me for one year now and is quite popular in the neighborhood - especially with the kids, who think he's really cool.

I am a lifelong lover of dogs and horses.  My favorite breed is the German Shepherd.  My first two dogs were from breeders, but since I volunteered in a shelter back in the early 80's, I now prefer to rescue shelter dogs.  There are many amazing dogs sitting in shelters, just waiting to be loved and have a home of their own.

My favorite animal agencies are Best Friends Animal Society in Utah; Mission:Wolf in Colorado; and New Rochelle Humane Society in NY.  They are all wonderful places where the animals are very loved.

I work as a legal assistant.  I like to walk, read, dance.  I love dogs, horses and wolves.

I look forward to posting and getting to know the other members.

Hi Everybody!!! Haven't been on in a while as things have been totally crazy with my family and me, but I wanted to let everyone know that Babygirl had her little angel on Friday, May 16th, (His due date, no less.) Landon Michael came into this world at 8 pounds 8 ounces and was 21 inches long. Everyone is doing great and we have once again been blessed. The twins are 11 months old now and walking!!! I had a talk with Landon that he had to stay a baby a little longer than his cousins did! Codi turned six last week and is now a "first grader"!!!! She is doing beautifully and I think I'm going to start her with her riding lessons this summer. Hope all are well and going to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend.

Hugs to all,
Soos and the zoo

Oh, and I have a new addition to the zoo. Since Babygirl took Boo with her when she moved out, Aero was a bit lonesome. The big dogs just don't play like a little one does, so I got a new little Chi. She is about three and a half pounds and is a tri-color, smooth coat. She gives him a run for his money. Will try to post pictures soon.  Oh she was named Faith when I got her and pretty much knows her name, so I'll probably not change it, but I call her "little bit" most of the time and she comes to that too.

Hi - I just learned about this site from Best Friends Animal Society and so far I like what I see!  I volunteer one day a week at the local wildlife hospital, where I am also on the Board of Directors.  I consider it an incredible privilege to beable to work with wild animals hands on and releasing them when they have been rehabilitated is the best feeling in the world!!

At home I have 2 Maine Coon cats, Baxter & Sadie, 8 years old.  Typical Maine Coons in that they are huge and intimidating (in tehory) but then run and hide from any stranger and seem to be scared of anything much larger than a mouse.  To date between the two of them they have about one kill - a daddylonglegs - and about three detached anole tails.  They are one person cats and are a bit dog-like with me...always wanting to be nearly, etc.  I also have 2 medium sized rabbits (about 8lbs each) which are rescues from the scourge of bunnydom - Easter drop-offs approximately a month after the holiday.  Attila got his name from his fearless nature (I realized the pun "Attila the Bun" later) and Dervish from her enthusiastic bunny dances.  The bunnies wat to play with the cats but for the first year the cats were terrified of them (they are, after all, bigger than mice ).  The cats have gotten over that a bit now and only get scared when the bunnies bull-rush them or jump on them (fair to say said bunnies have lost some of the instincts of their wild cousins).

I also have temporary resdents from time to time from the wildlife hospital whic his always fun.  The cats particularly like it when I have squirrels - they are pretty small when I have them and they are kept i na fairly spacious cage inside until they are big enough to be released.  The cats don't try to get them they just sit and watch and who can blame them I do too - nothing more entertaining than 3 juvy squirrels!!  The best was a crow that was not releasable because she was blind in one eye.  Crows are wicked smart so sadly she understood her limitations and was hesitant about flying,  But she did fly a little further each time until she'd basically gotten a mental map of the house and she could fly around it.  The cats weren't scared of her but they had no inclination to chase her either (crows are decent sized birds of course).  But she figured out where their food bowl is and would go steal from it.  The cats would watch not really knowing what to do about the whole thing.  The crow would sit there are chwo down happily enough if I was right there but if I left and the cats were still watching she would start screaming bloody murder even though the cats were still just sitting there figuring out who this crazy bird was and why was it eating their food.  Then there were the iguanas......

As you can tell always something going on here which is why shortly after I moved to Florida from Boston someone called my place the "Tropical Zoo" so I thought it might as well be my screen name!!

Look forward to gettign to know you all!

Michele

Hello fellow animal lovers!  I just became aware of this site today and signed up.   My name is Sharla and I am a lifelong animal lover and am currently owned by a Siberian Husky named Sadie and two cats, Isabella and Angel.  My husband and I and our furbabies live in Oregon.

I dream of one day being able to work full time helping animals but currently do what I can with a shop called BeadedTail on Etsy.com where my mom and I make and sell beaded jewelry and send a portion of the proceeds to animal awareness causes.   We just wanted to do whatever we can to help raise awareness and educate people on animal causes.

To introduce our family I'll start with Sadie.  She's a 7 1/2 year old Husky that we adopted at 8 weeks of age from a humane society that rescued her from a puppy mill in Nebraska.   She lives the life of royalty now and loves the ocean and hikes in the forest.

Isabella is a 2 year old tortie that we adopted at 9 mos of age in November 2006 from the local humane society.  She is the most mellow cat - until it comes to playtime and then she's as wild as any!  She loves everyone and makes new friends with all visitors.  She loves to play fetch which is the first cat I've ever had to do that.

Angel is nearly 2 years old and we adopted her the same day as Isabella.  She was 3 months old but weighed less than 2 lbs but now she is a happy, healthy long haired ball of joy!  She loves to watch the birds, play in the bathtub and is the inspector of anything new brought into the house.

I'm looking forward to learning more about this site and getting to meet fellow animal lovers!

Hello Everyone !  I am new to this site recommended by Best Friends and I am enjoying every minute

I just moved to Ga last year after surviving breast cancer and wanting to move closer to my sis who lives in the Blue ridge area.

I am the owner of 3 pitbull terriers, one from a breeder, fawn color, his name is Razz. one year old.    He's a big guy with a goofy personality.

2nd is Peek-a-boo a rescue, also 1 yr old, black and white with one blue eye and one brown.  She's a little hell on wheels but a real sweetheart!

3rd is Braxton, he's a rescue also, and I'm fostering him.  He's a red nose 6month old that was abandoned by the breeder because he had a slight heart murmur when he was born and the breeder wanted to put him down, as he felt he wouldn't get enough $$ for him.  He the sweetest little guy who's been pushed around alot (3people have not taken really good care of the little guy) so he went to the rescue I belong too in Canton, GA.  I decided to foster him when I saw his picture...I fell in love AGAIN!

I've always been an owner of pits, for the past 14 years and have a deep concern for the breed.
