I've been roaming thru the site for a couple of days now, and I love it here! Forgive me if this becomes a long post, I have quite a pack, and I luv talking about them. I have 9 forever dogs, and one foster pup. We also have six kitties. How about some introductions? Casey is my soulmate. She always seems to know what I'm thinking. She's a golden retriever/ Blue Heeler mix. Basically, she looks like a big Goldie, except she's grey, with black spots. She weighs about 90 pounds, and smart as the dickens! She's a talker, and loves everyone. She's a big loveable ball of fur. Ginger is our oldest, and our resident "Mama Dog". She's a shepherd mix, and the mother of Charlie and Sassy. She was also the mother of Missy, whom I lost four years ago to cancer. Now it seems the same disease is going to take her as well. Ginny is 14, and has had a good life. It's gonna kill me to put her down. Charlie is the elder stateman of the pack. He's a shameless beggar, but he does it with such grace, that he's hard to refuse. He, and his sister Sassy have just turned 9. Sassy was the runt of Ginger's litter. Although Charlie and the others weigh in at about 60 pounds, Sassy only tops 30. She's a shy sweet thing, who loves getting her ears scratched. Maggie and Ozzie are my black labs. Maggie and the litter she came from were thrown into the lake to drown. She is one of the three that survived. I didn't believe that people really did that until I adopted her. Ozzie is a shelter dog we adopted at the age of 2. Both of them are so sweet and gentle. Chance is a pit bull mix. He was thrown from a truck, and suffered several injuries. He started out as a foster, but has since become a forever baby. He is a lot like my youngest son. A real sweetheart, yet he can't quite stay out of trouble. Peas in a pod, those two. Peanut and Pearl are my little girls. Peanut is a mini schnauzer, and Pearl a Jack Russell. Although they both weigh less than 15 lbs each, they give the big guys a run for their money. Yogi is our foster pup. He's a chocolate lab, about 3 months old. He's such a sweetie! He and the "Tiny Twosome" are constant playmates. Mouse and Zoe are our two outdoor cats. They are littermates, and are pretty much inseparable. Mouse is really a lover, he just doesn't want you to know that. He tries to remain aloof, but he's a sucker for a good ear scratch. Zoe, on the other hand, takes all the lovin' she can get, and is not above begging for it. My last four are collectively known as The Kittens. Although they came from different places, they were all born within the span of about 15 days. Abby and Teddy are littermates. Abby is a cuddler, whereas Teddy is a bit anti-social. He's quick to attack any fuzzy little mouse toy you might toss around, however. Smokey is a long-legged siamese mix. He's my explorer, and he's into everything! Last, but never least, we have Mr. Grinch. Don't let the song fool you... there's not a mean bone in this guy's body. He would prefer, however, to have Mommy all to himself. One thing about it, there's never a dull moment at our house! Although not a pet, there is also Bandit, a raccoon. He lives in the wooded area that borders our property, and I and my neighbor help care for him. He lost an eye about three years ago, due to a fireworks accident. He's gotten good at foraging on his own, but we do supplement his food supply when he needs it. We don't have much physical contact, since he is still a wild animal, but he sure is in love with my birthbath. We moved it just inside the woodline, and I clean it out during the day, when I know he'll be sleeping. Am I crazy, or what?!? |
