| I been watching what is happening to the animals in asia or africa, they been sold to the chinese and been eaten by them; i watched a report this is no offense against any chinese, but is cruel and horrible I just can't believe we have no more tigers left around the world. is very difficult to watch the tv and see how the cats, dogs are being abuse and the fact that they have to be euthanize after all the horrible things that have happen to them, there should be more people outside that care more about the pets and all animals in general. well this are my thoughts. | | | |

| Dear Champion, I agree, there is way too much animal suffering at the hands of humans, but there are lots of wonderful groups out there trying to stop it. One group is WSPA, World Society for the Protection of Animals. Please check them out online, with enough of us joining in we can help stop animals from suffering. Tatanka | | | |

| Typically the eating of dogs and cats is among the poverty striken in those countries. Fortunatly, there are humane groups stepping in and trying to educate and provide a voice to those that cannot speak up for themselves. I agree, there are simply too many strays and beautiful lives wasted! Continue speaking out and join the organizations that are making a difference like Tatanka suggested :-) Or maybe create a new one! | | | |

| So much abuse to all types of animals around the world, domestic and wild alike. I keep thinking, there are so very many of us animal lovers and so many organizations that one would think if we could somehow all band together(obviously that's much harder than it sounds)we could make it stop. I read something by Jim Willis 1999 entitled ~The Animal's Savior Copyright I looked at all the animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly. "I have done something," He replied, "I created you." | | | |

| We need all of us to make a difference!!! I think we can do it, and I think it starts with education. One of the issues that breaks my heart is the clubbing of baby harp seals every spring. It started the end of March and is still going on. If we can inform and educate people not to buy seal products, it will stop the killing of the seals. I heard this year that many of the "sealers" did not show up for this year's hunt because the price they are getting for the fur is not worth their time. This is because so many countries have banned and denounced this seal slaughter including our own. Some good news!!!! | | | |

| To me it is unbelievable and horrifying how mankind can be so cruel and abusive to Gods voiceless creatures. How ugly mankind is. Those who mistreat these wondrous creatures have no compassion for humans either. I know I will always support any legal organization who is helping stop these atrocities from happening.

| Tatanka thank you so much for those links! Every single person can make a difference. Sign petitions, boycott products that are made from cruelty, get involved in legislation!!! The Humane Society ( www.hsus.org ) has pages devoted to legislation. Because of animal lovers involvement, Utah, who had one of the worst animal protection laws, now makes it a felony to torture cats or dogs where before it was only a misdemeanor that the police force didn't bother with. Spread the word!!! Most of my friends had no idea what was happening to animals until I told them, make flyers and post them or place them in car windows. There is so much cruelty in this world but there is also a lot that can be changed through educating people on what's really going on. God Bless all of you who care for and fight for animals!!! | | | |

| So glad to "meet" you Queenie and wild4animals. I am very glad to hear about others that will take on the fight to help animals!
Wouldn't it be cool if we could set up a special section in the forum just for posting petitions, websites, and legislation that needs action to help animals in need? I know this site is specifically meant for possible romances and to make new friends, but for those of us who want to make a difference, maybe the others will just "ignore" us!!!

| | It would be great to have an advocacy forum on here, I'll have to remind myself to only do that on the other websites :0) It's a passion of mine though so it'll be tough!!! It really is wonderful meeting others who share the same views and who are willing to fight for what's right, very glad to "meet" you too :0) !!!! | | | |

| Tatanka, live skinning of dogs?!?! Holy smokes! That is freaking me out.
I agree that we all should do whatever we can to help. There are too many uncaring and ignorant people out that. I saw this man who started Island Dog on Ellen a few weeks ago. He is trying to place all these tens of thousands of homeless, starving dogs from Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico has NO animal shelters of any kind. People just abandon their dogs and cats if they don't want them anymore. He discovered this when he was on vacation and accidentally chose to surf at a place the locals call "Dead Dog Beach" because it's where everyone abandons their dogs.
Anyway, people can adopt or give money to his cause by going to the website www.islanddog.org
But something this man said was very powerful. He also has educational campaigns at schools on Puerto Rico to teach children about the feelings of animals and how to treat them. He says that we will only change the future by shaping children's understanding when they are young.
Otherwise, the cruelty and ignorance are passed down. Once someone is grown, they will rarely change their perspective about animals' feelings and lives mattering, too.

| I just came across the Animal Saviors website, it makes me sick! This will of course, all be hidden while the world watches the Olympics. We need to get the word out....letters to the editor, petition sites, flyers, emails, etc. just like wild4animals says.
The Jim Willis quote "Animals' Saviour" is posted at my desk and on my fridge at home. It gives me encouragement not to give up.

| I signed the petition. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. On 8/8/08, in Los Angeles, there is a dog and cat fur meeting in Chinatown (info - www.idausa.org) regarding the 2 million cats and dogs skinned alive in China every year. Dog and cat fur is everywhere (coats, pillows, decorative items). It is torture beyond description. | | | |
