What a great idea!!! I hope more insurance companies start this coverage. If your pet is injured in a car accident, auto insurance will automatically pick up $500 of the vet bills - at no extra charge to your premium!!Maybe they figure it's a good gimmick to get people to switch, since the majority of drive time is work related (and your pet wouldn't be in your car), but if you're on vacation, going to the dog park, or errands, and an accident occurs, your pet would be covered. Obviously most people don't properly restain their pets in vehicles (i.e. pet seat belts, crates, etc), but I still think it's a good idea. http://auto.progressive.com/progressive-car-insurance/pet-injury-coverage.aspx Legal mumbo jumbo: I don't work for this company and I have another auto insurance company, so I don't if this is one of those "hard to insure people" companies.

I heard about that. I think it's a great idea also. I don't have that car insurance company either. But I hope other insurance companies will follow their lead.

What a great idea!  Let's all pressure our ins. companies to cover pets, to include horses hauled by your vehicle, and horse trailer!

It sounds like a fluff benefit, but it's a kind thought...why not!

PS   Two major insurance companies DO NOT breed-discriminate when writing policies.  They don't ask if you have a pet at all.
