| Apparently people didn't like the fact that I posted a potentially helpful thread on how to rate dog food... So wallah, it's gone. | | | |

| | I am a little curious, as to "who" developed the Evaluation of Dog Food formulas? Interestingly, the Authority Harvest Baked received a score of 116 A+, which appears to be a very high score. Authority band is the "store brand" for KMart. I also see Kirkland Signature Chicken, Rice and Vegetables received a score of 110 A+. Kirkland is the "storebrand" for the food club warehouse Costco (Sams competitior)...both of these no name brand dog foods have a very much higher rating than what is considered the top premium brands. | | | |

| My concern is that this is the third time this person has posted this information. We are all here to share info. with each other regarding our pets, however, three times of the same post, starts making one wonder.

| NAME BRAND doesn't make it QUALITY brand. NAME brand just endorses a lot of supplies to vet clinics so they sell their product there, however something like HillScience Diet is high in corn, therefore high in sugar, not making it very suitable for pets in my opinion. My Basset was on Ol' Roy (I'm not a fan) but her coat speaks for itself. It's shiny, not even greasey as most hounds have and she's in great health. So honestly I can't say something like this thread is a sure bet of facts. It's baseless information unless the thread starter can prove it was documented by a reputable company/university/science lab. Other than that, it's just someone's opinion. | | | |

| hey oat, we have had a rash of people reposting things similar to yours, without getting to know anyone on the site. as far as you willing to help, that is great! but also realize that some people will not change their choice of dog food, regardless of what you tell them.. it is just like the people i meet in the park. some people yell at their dogs, some hit their dogs, some feed their animals food with by-products, and some people read and do research as to what to feed their dogs. (which is what i have done...i have worked for wild oats and whole foods and upon getting my dog, i wanted to make sure i did the best for him-in my eyes)
just a suggestion...but i am sure most of us here would not mind you posting such things, but that maybe you start off and be a bit more friendly and maybe willling to meet others and be welcomed in our community here. and not just as a new person post info. like what to feed and where to shop, etc... i do not shop at walmart either, but for some people , that may be what they can afford, or all they have in their town. hope that helps and welcome!
snow ps...you might also want to just post something once. just like your post about 2 dogs found-that you posted twice. most of us read the posts and sometimes the repeated ones that do not show human tones are sometimes reported as bots. just trying to Help ya! | | | |

| Ah CoSnow, ..always the ambassador..and thanks for it.. And Oat, This is a COMMUNITY of animal lovers ... all with our own beliefs and opinions, so while we welcome such an informative post, we'd rather not have it crammed down our throats.. some of us have rescued babies, some have purchased from a breeder, that's not what matters... one persons thoughts or opinions are not more valid than another...'kay? so to second CoSnow, welcome... oh, and we as a community don't normally rebut with vulgarity when faced with a differing opinion ...just sayin' ...as Dan would say, "keep it clean"

| Hi All - Just a note to remind you that, as cos said, we are a community of pet lovers who all share the same goal of making friends and helping pets -- let's try to have all our forum topics reflect that. With regard to multiple postings, if you see one that is offensive, solicitous or of questionable integrity, please let me know as soon as possible and I will investigate and remove if necessary. Remember, though, that even I often post important information in more than one forum and would expect our members to do the same for something they feel passionate about. We've gotten a lot of great new members in the past month who are anxious to meet our fantastic pack - please continue welcome them with open paws as you always do!

| | Hmm, apparently someone has decided to respond to me via email and tell me I got -10 pts for being a butthole. I don't recall calling anyone names. But congratulations, they spelled butthole correctly. | | | |

| HI, If possible could we get back to Animal Welfare issues? Each of us have causes that we care very deeply about but can we stop the "nipping" and "growling"? I am more worried about obtaining the necessary number of signatures on a petition for the 33 pets that were murdered by cops in St Bernard parish after Hurricane Katrina. Thanks | | | |

| HI didih! I know how confusing pet foods can be...especially after all the recalls last year. Kudos to you for wanting to feed a better diet and having the sense to look at the list of ingredients on the new bag of feed! No one food is going to be the best for all dogs, so here's a list of some of the foods I've heard good things about from friends and family - I have decided to feed EVO to my gang. (Also, you may want to check out The Whole Dog Journal because they print great articles and really teach people how to read ingredient lists).
Innova Evo Hund-n-flocken Blue Buffalo Artemis Canidae Karma Wysong
Good luck!

| I'm not sure what all this back and forth is about, my only concern is the care and welfare of our furry family members. In my research and usage, brand name 100% does not equal quality and decent food. Most of the so-called "high-end" foods aren't any better than a cheap one. The key is to look at the ingredients. Corn, corn gluten, soy, wheat, sugar, animal by-products, those are the things you want to avoid, especially the corn which is what makes animals itch so much, live shorter lives, not be as healthy. (Wheat isn't terrible, it's just a lot of animals are allergic to it) Corn isn't an enemy, but the main thing fed? Not good. Think if you ate corn chips every day all of your life, what would happen? Nothing good. They need a healthy mixture. I have found that foods like Natural Blend, Wellness, and the like are excellent excellent excellent foods to feed, all natural, all real meat and things that are truly good for pets. It might be a little more expensive but trust me, the animal eats less of it because they are more satisfied and filled up (think of how you feel when you eat potato chips, hungry way too soon). And my dog is so healthy because of it, her eyes shine, her coat is so soft and shiny that people always comment on it, she's a picture of perfect health, oh and she eats way less. That's what I have to say!
