| Bad news - Pedigree dog food has apparently produced a bad batch. We bought a 50 lb bag of their "Large Breed" kibbles at Wal Mart on March 1st. A few days passed before we opened it. Tala (75 lb GSD) threw-up soon after eating it. We assumed it was an isolated occurrence and didn't think much about it. Then Gypsy (70 GSD/lab) also threw-up. The next day they both seemed fine, but ended up vomiting again and again throughout the day. Today was more of the same - so we called Wal Mart and the Customer Service Rep. said another customer came in last week complaining and she returned the Pedigree dog food saying that her small dog had gotten serious diarrhea and vomiting after eating the food. Also, the vomit smells horrible - more like diarrhea than vomit. (Sorry to be so graphic, folks, but it is an unusual symptom that may clue somebody in.) So, with less-than-scientific certainty we have concluded that something is wrong with the dog food. We will be contacting Pedagree and returning the food to Wal Mart tomorrow. If you feed Pedigree, please monitor your pets closely and discontinue if you experience similar problems. We will let you know if we find out anything more. Best wishes to you and your pets, Max | | | |

| Hopefully you plan on a trip to the Vet before Walmart. I'm a vet technician and know that that's not something to let go. It's rare for dogs to vomit, so when they do, that indicates something serious. | | | |

| the whole story from max is very scary as i had heard they were sick for a few days. hopefully something will be found out about the food, or maybe, as Domi suggested, about the way walmart was caring for the product perhaps. as far as pepsi is concerned, the member who posted above, i have never heard from a vet that it is rare for pets to vomit, and that it indicates something serious. my dog vomits bile, or sometimes food, or even pieces of grass or sticks at times and he is completely fine. i have asked the vet about it, and when i first got him ,i had many tests done. The vets said that sometimes it is perfectly normal. so i am not so sure about stating it indicates something serious... snow

| Max is unable to post from work and asked me to post this for him…. Hi Folks, Thank you all for your concern and suggestions. I am happy to report that both Tala & Gypsy are feeling well (and back to being their goofy selves.) We'll update further if we learn what the problem with the food might be, and how widespread. Max Monday night we cooked burger and rice for the dogs and they were fine all night. Tuesday they got bologna for breakfast and were fine as well started playing and being silly again. I am more and more considering alternatives to convenience foods. I emailed Pedigree yesterday, nothing from them as of yet. Zig | | | |

| You should probably NOT shop at WalMart.
They don't care an ounce for their employees and they shut down most existing business all to sell you really low quality products from China. The proof's in the pudding...
Your dog is sick, not surprised with the stories I've hard in the past about Walmart.

Sorry to hear about your puppy though!!! | | | |

| Update: Both Tala and Gypsy are fine. Soon after we stopped feeding the Pedigree, they both recovered fully. We still have not heard back from the Manufacturer.
Thanks again for the positive vibes

| OATSDAD, ok knock wallmart, I do to. But have you ever worked there? I have. No the pay ain't the greatest, but if you have intelligence and put forth a effort, you can move up the chain. Now if you really need a job, and some people do, go to a super wallmart and apply for day maintenance, yes you will be cleaning bathrooms, but guess what, it pays more than cashier and you will more than likely get 40 hours a week. Remember, there is no such thing as a demeaning job, only demeaning people. The job is there for a reason, it needs to be done. And oh by the way, check all the clothing etc, that you own or bought at a hi priced store, guess what, made in China, just checked my North Face jacket, it is. The only thing I own that I am sure is made in U.S is made by Ruger, Colt, Ithaca, Smith and Wesson.. | | | |

I agree with Katie. I'm glad your two are feeling much better. Kinda off the subject, but I do love Pedigree's commercial on TV with Echo the dog. So sad at lst but they updated their commercial w/Echo and he's been adopted!!!

| My next door neighbor has been feeding her Lab / Dalmation mix Pedigree for the dogs entire life. The dog just turned 16 years old. I am sure genetics are a big factor...other than the dog being totally deaf now from old age, it still gets around..... I would never feed my dogs Pedigree, but thats just me.... | | | |
