My oh my, Dinky, you certainly have your hands full! First thing I would suggest is inventing a new game, and having them play along. The game you are currently playing - they're getting into mischief, you're getting up and chasing them, they're running, you sit down, they come back for more mischief and more chasing - is fun for them but frustrating for you. I would try to spend at least a half hour, longer if possible, playing with them, in the evening and getting them tuckered out before everyone goes to bed. I use laser pointers and feather toys here with my Crew. However, Benny has gotten smart and realized where the red dot originates, and he is forever attacking the pointer instead of the dot on the floor. You be the boss, you set the rules. You play the chasee, let Sally and Lucy chase you (or the toys) instead. An alternative to the squirt gun is a clean empty soda can with a few marbles or pennies inside. When the girls are into mischief, shake the can, or toss it (gently) in the general direction of the trouble makers. Don't throw it directly at them! You just want them to associate an unpleasant noise with their bad actions. You must be consistent though. Hope this helps! Cathy and the Crew |
