I adopted a beautiful German Shepherd from Best Friends. When they got her, she was skinny, almost all her hair was gone. Full of bugs and no front teeth.. She was severely abused. Chained to a truck for the first 5 yrs. of her life. She was shot at, kicked at and heaven only knows what else. She turned out to be the most loving wonderful dog you could ever want. Best Friends is the only place I will ever get another dog from. It is a wonderful, beautiful place for abused and abandoned animals. She was my whole life. She passed away 1 1/2 yrs. ago. I still cannot forget her. She just loved everyone, including the new grandbabies. For being such a battered dog, you couldn't have hand made a better animal. She hip dysplatia and died of cancer at 12 yrs. old. So I got to be in her life for 5 yrs. We will get another dog from Best Friends in a few years. After we have done all our travelling, the time will be right. For now, I am enjoying my horse that I got after "Heidi" died. God Bless Our Animals and Shelters like Best Friends. |
