Hello!

I'm interested in training my dog in basic tracking.  I have no idea how to go about this.  I know that there is a ton of information in books and on the internet on how to do it, but I'd like to hear from any of you with real world experience.

At what age can I start to teach this to my GSD?

How do I get started?

How much time (per day or week) will I need to set aside for this?

What books and resources do you personally recommend?

  THANK YOU!

you need to decide , sport ( disturbed vegitation) tracking, or article tracking. sport tracking , like in akc or schutzhund tracking  is cool. he needs to start yesterday!   you can start by putting hulahoops on the round. disturb the grass by scuffing it with your shoes. jump to the next hoop etc. put food n the hoops. he needs to associate distubed veg with food! be careful; not to step anywhere but inthe hoops. give the comnd( "sook", in german) guide and praise when he finds the food.
