Looks like First Dog Barney has finally gotten fed up with White House living - yesterday he bit a Reuters reporter!

Don't worry, little guy! Only 75 more days left...

Re: Barney Bites Back

Poor guy...looks like he's just a mirror to his owner/s as all dogs are, so they say =)

Re: Barney Bites Back

He should know better than to approach a dog so fast. Especially a small one. They get grouchy:)

Re: Barney Bites Back

A Scottish Terrier once owned me. His favorite 'sport' was biting.

Do I smell LAWSUIT ? ? ? LOL!

Imagine how many celebrities wish they could do this too. LOL!

Re: Barney Bites Back

Dogs of any size should never be approached from over their heads as the reporter did. Dogs feel threatened when someone taller than them comes at them from over their heads. The reporter was at fault not the dog.

Re: Barney Bites Back

I don't blame him, He's losing his home and has some nosy reporter in his face!

Re: Barney Bites Back

The reporter should learn some basic dog manners before approaching someone else's dog ... hand should never go over their head when they don't even know you...any dog would percieve that as a threat....just surprise that Barney didn't bite harder.

Re: Barney Bites Back

Poor Barney - reporters are so obnoxious I'd want to bite one too! LOL. I'm sure Barney will be much happier when he's back in his "real" home again.

Re: Barney Bites Back

Where were the Bushes? One should be there with their animals to make sure no one approaches in the wrong manner. Hummm..

Re: Barney Bites Back

hes biting the wrong person!! should be letting his owner know how unhappy he is about the economy!!or maybe bush should get a cat..they remain aloof in all situations!! thanks

Re: Barney Bites Back

Barney is just plain tired of the whole "in the lime light business" and is ready to setle down with his family with no outsiders bugging any of them and I don't blame him. If he listens to news casts very often and what they say about his owner; it is a wonder he only nipped the guy.

Sweet, Barney Rocks. All the media deserves it right now.

Re: Barney Bites Back

Animals have a very strong sense of right and wrong. They do amazing things and I think Barney was just following his best basic instincts insofar as he felt threatened. He saw no one was going to help him so he took action. Right on, Barney!

Re: Barney Bites Back

No one in their right mind would reach down to pet a dog they did not know, regardless of how cute it may be.

1. Ask the owner or the one holding the leash.

2. Present the back of your hand for the dog to sniffll and see if they even like you.

3. Then and only then would you pet the dog.

IT IS THE DOG'S CALL, NOT THE STRANGER'S

Re: Barney Bites Back

Get down to the dog's level then let Barney come to you if he wishes to. Just because he's small doesn't make him less agressive if he feels threatened.

Way to go Barney!!! Serves the reporter right. He invaded Barney's space and Barney did his job. Good for him. He deserves a ribbon for defending his territory. Barney is the Bush's pet and protector. Way to go Barney!!!

He's luck he didn't come to my house. My cat is more dominant than my dogs. She's scared many a pet sitter person out of my house. :-)

Re: Barney Bites Back

I do not blame Barney one bit. I'd have bitten that reporter too. What I want to know is, what was the person who was holding the leash doing? It appeared that he was just standing there. He should have warned the reporters not to just reach out and touch!
Dogs act out of instinct, and they have a better sense of a situation that humans give them credit!
