North Shore Animal League AdoptathonThis past May, thousands of shelters around the world joined North Shore Animal League America in Pet Adoptathon 2008.

Over 2,000 shelters joined the Animal League in staying open for 36 straight hours saving as many lives and finding loving homes for as many pets as possible -- more than 600 homeless pets found loving families!

In addition to the great adoption event, there were a bunch of activities for prospective pet parents at the Adoptathon headquarters including a performance by the Purina Incredible Dog Team and a special appearance by Rescue Ink, who delivered the important message of owner responsibility and spoke out against animal cruelty.

Re: NSAL Adoptathon

I am glad for the pets who found homes--but only 600? That seems like a low number to me.

Re: NSAL Adoptathon

I agree. That's less than 1% per shelter...about 17 pets per hour across 2,000 shelters.

I work with Honor Sanctuary Animal Rescue: www.honorsanctuary.org, and we've adopted out over 100 animals in just about 10 months - that's how long we've been in operation. And that's with no shelter - only through adoption events and our web site!!
