Fancy liked my shoes. Fancy was my daughters doberman. She liked to take my shoes from the closet, or where ever I stepped out of them. Not both shoes, just one. And she liked to bury that shoe under her blanket. Of course, she stands on the blanket, then tries to move the blanket (with her nose) enough to cover it. It's not an easy task to do with a nose and 80 lbs of dobe standing on top of the blanket. I suppose if I didn't have thumbs, I might approach the task the same way. Luckily my nose isn't as big as hers.

But, as people, we aren't all that different. We try to do things, like move forward in life, all the while being firmly rooted in the past. It's tough to make much progress that way.

We try to let go, but refuse to stop holding on. We try to forgive, but keep feeding the hurt. We try to test the water, but with such hesitancy that we decide it's too cold before we even dip in. We try to bury our fears all the while standing firmly upon them. Hmmmmmmm. Go figure.

Sometimes Fancy did succeed in getting that shoe buried. Sometimes she quit trying and walked away. Not a bad way to go. If it doesn't work try something different. Failing that turn three circles, lay down and sleep on it.
