The kids -- well, two of them -- really want a dog. We keep telling them no -- after all we've got three cats in constant battle and already have enough trouble getting the kids to clean litter boxes! But on top of that, the third child is allergic.

This week we're leaving our three furbabies in the hands of a pet sitter for the first time. Normally I wouldn't think twice about going on vacation, but after Tom's tail-ectomy I'm watching their every move and if one of them even sneezes I'm on the phone to the vet. Thankfully - and in one of those it's-a-small-world

It's been a rainy month here in Nebraska. I'm not complaining, because we have been so fortunate compared to states surrounding us. Frankly, I love mornings like this with the rain on the roof and the rumble of thunder all around. It's a perfect morning to lay in bed and listen to Mother Nature.

My friends often laugh at me when I tell them I'm hooked on John Edward's 'Cross Country' - and they are in disbelief when I say I'm going to see him live!
Last week John came to D.C. and a bunch of us went to see his readings. They were amazing, as usual, but the most interesting things was how many pets came through to their owners!

Awwww! Despite being named this year's World's Ugliest Dog, Gus still has a family who loves him more than anything!
"Gus the dog has three legs, one eye and no hair, except for a white tuft on the top of his head. He's a real winner. The pedigree Chinese crested won the World's Ugliest Dog contest.

I received some sad news this afternoon from my friend Amy -- they made the difficult decision to have Sara the Beagle put to sleep next week. She's been battling cancer valiantly for a few years, but the tumors are growing and she's starting to decline rapidly. As with every dog, Sara has a story.

I'm not whining, but being away from my dogs is tough on me. They are as important as sunshine to me.
I was sitting at a delightful sidewalk cafe in the Sellwood district of Portland last evening. I was feeling pretty confident I'd get a puppy fix. The fact there was a dog bowl sitting right under a water faucet seeme

This has got to be one of the saddest stories of the week -- a developer in Florida is bulldozing a pet cemetery in favor of new development and the owners have only a few more days to recover their furbabies' remains.
"Between a few run-down homes and shin-high weeds sits a pet cemetery. Many area pet owners believed this site would be their companions’ final resting place. It appears they were wrong."
